    By Gus Van Horn blog,
A few days ago, I mentioned in passing comedienne Julia Sweeney's one-woman show, "Letting Go of God." I found this soulful, humorous, and thought-provoking monologue about her intellectual journey well worth the time. (It's a little over two hours long, though. I found it helpful to download it and listen to it in chunks during a day full of errands.) For the curious, there is a shorter talk which is also worthwhile, that might give you an idea of what to expect, "The Gifts of Not Believing in

The former argues that social media and sympathet

What is the Objectivist explanation of how we know modus ponens?

    William O
    By William O,
Modus ponens is, of course, the following pattern of inference: If p, then q. p. Therefore, q. What is the Objectivist position on how we come to know this inference rule? "The Objectivist position" here can mean either the position taken by Rand or the position taken by an Objectivist intellectual. I am pretty sure Rand never addressed this in the official Objectivist literature. Thanks in advance.
