    Objectivism Is The Everyman's Philosophy

In the universe, what you see is what you get,

figuring it out for yourself is the way to happiness,

and each person's independence is respected by all

    Hi

    Guest theDude
    By Guest theDude,
Hi everybody. I guess I'll get right to it. My real name is Mike, and I first started reading Ayn Rand in 2001 after seeing Yaron Brook on CNN. In the fall I will be a freshman at Rutgers University. I'm looking forward to some good conversations. If you want to know more than ask, otherwise that's it for now.

    Board default of topics shown

    By AshRyan,
I have a suggestion that I think would make the board a little nicer (but hey, it's your board ). The board defaults are apparently set to only show topics from the last thirty days in each forum. That makes it so that if you click on a forum in which there are no topics less than a month old, it says that the forum is empty. It's a pretty easy thing to change that myself (from "the last 30 days" to "the beginning"), but if that was set as the board default, then I wouldn't have to do it every time I entered a forum and wanted to find an older topic. Does that make sense? It's just a minor issue, but it would be cool if you could change it. Thanks!

    Hello

    By John,
I've always thought that an objectivist was someone who always had the right answers, never made any mistakes, and could prove any point in a minimal amount of words. I never thought of myself as an objectivist because of this and I now know why I was wrong. An objectivist is a person who uses only reason to obtain knowledge of reality and uses that knowledge to make his life better. An objectivist can make mistakes and have a wrong answer in the proccess but once he realizes the mistakes they are corrected. I still think one should prove a point in a minimal amount of words though but sometimes its hard to understand things that way. (If I am wrong or there is anything I should add to this tell me).

    "Tiddlywink" music

    AshRyan
    By AshRyan,
Hello everyone, Thought you might be interested in this site, which features turn of the century popular music. [edit] After exploring the site more myself, I found that the webmaster of it actually has an interest in Ayn Rand and there is a section of the site devoted to her and specific examples of what she called "tiddlywink music." This is good stuff! [/edit] [edit] After doing some more web exploration, I saw that links to this site have already been provided on a few other Objectivist sites. So I guess I just found it the hard way. Oops! [/edit]
