There is nothing about self-sacrifice in this movie, explicitly or implicitly, whatsoever. It is about man's will to survive and live.

I don't suppose it would be funny to me if you did. If you saw the humor, you wouldn't insist on a poor management decision that willfully ignores the context of the business in question. It's the willful evasion that I find humorous.

I get that you're a super-busy guy who doesn't want to interact with the service people. I get that if you had a business, your product would be sooo good that you could treat your customers as poorly as the Soup Nazi. But you have to understand that everybody isn't like you. Krispy Kreme is in the business of selling doughnuts to the population at large, not to a niche group of rushed watch-watchers.

For what it's worth, I bet if you went to that Krispy Kreme you'd be in and out of the drive through in record time.

Edit: You do realize that the Soup Nazi episodes poked fun at how poorly the customers were treated, don't you? That the business survived despite atrocious customer service?

IA, what you have described is just one business model. That model that doesn't work outside of densely populated areas. Even you implicitly acknowledge this when you note the absence of throngs of busy people. Yet you cling to the idea that Jackie should be fired. I think that's funny.

Some businesses survive on repeat customers with whom a little extra time is taken to establish a relationship.

    Hi,

    1. Get out of your house- right now! Walk your dog, lay out in your backyard, cook some food. Do something, anything that you find enjoyable. Relax and try to appreciate your life a little bit.
    2. Enroll in a class that interests you at the university, even if it won't count towards your major (and do it especially if you think it's going to be useless). Take a biology class with a lab, or an archeology class - something totally different than what you're used to. The main idea is to be involved in something exciting, and to get you comfortable around other people your age.
    3. Apply for a job. You can't meet anyone if you're sitting alone at home all day. (If you like music, apply for a job at a music store. If you don't, you can apply for an internship in a field you're interested in. There are be tons of opportunities available at universities for people who have little-to-no work experience.) You might need to force yourself to go through the interview process and learn how to tolerate some rejection, but if you work at it you'll definitely get a job- and it'll be worth it. You'll meet new people, make a little money, and most importantly, your successes will help you start rebuilding your self-esteem.
    4. As you're doing all of this, remember that you're working to change your life for the better. Remember that you're not tied down to anyone or anything: you can choose what you want to do.. you just have to find what it is you like doing! Also, try to talk to people in your classes and at work. Communicating is a big part of life, but it isn't always easy. Start small and work your way up- friendships take time and effort to develop. As you start getting more involved in things (aka living), communication will get easier and you'll get more comfortable being out of the house. It takes some practice, but you can do it.
    5. Tell your doctor that you've been taking your meds, but you are still depressed. (You probably need your dosage adjusted.) Tell him about your day-to-day life, about your isolation, and about your experience with counseling. And be honest- he will be able to help!

Hi - I'm starting a thread for anything about the *BIG* event. Say anything!

What I say: No matter what the outcome of tomorrow's election, the fight for what is right continues. Agreed?

    Romney still has my vote.

He said trickle-down government doesnt work here, or anywhere.
And, that government does not create jobs.

Obama praised free enterprise system as the greatest engine of prosperity - then why Mr. President do you not let that engine run freely? Get off its controls!!! It can run itself! It has its own built-in self-regulatory devices and does not need nor should have you (or anyone else in government) at any of its controls. Hands off! LET US ALONE!

Obama: Education is important. Teachers are important. Kids are important. Taxes are important. Social security is important. Medicare is important. National healthcare is important. The budget is important.
    Romney: I agree, Mr. President.

Romney's incompetence at promoting the free market is dwarfed by Obama's competence at eradicating it.

You say that Obama "was actually referring to the previously mentioned roads and bridges." I doubt it. James Taranto points out in WSJ that this misreads the grammar of the sentence in a couple of ways. First, "business" is in the same sentence as "that"; "roads and bridges" is not. The former is the antecedent of "that." Second, "roads and bridges" is two plurals strung together; "that" is a singular. If he'd meant what you say he did, he would have used "them" or "those." It would have been awkward sentence-making, but not a drop-dead refutation of what you, Obama and a few others are trying to claim.

(Taranto didn't say, but I will, that the pro-Obama reading makes the statement a triviality which nobody has ever denied and, unless you are right, nobody has ever found interesting and important enough to deserve stating.)

You claim to have information about Obama's mental states that is more reliable than the evidence of his own words. Where do you get it?

Really? Off the top of my head, I came up with

    Up
    Ratatouille
    The Incredibles
    The three Toy Story movies
    The Avengers
The first three Star Wars movies
The first three Indiana Jones movies
    Shawshank Redemption
    When Harry Met Sally
    Superman
    Superman II
    Iron Man

That's eighteen movies, and I could easily find more if I checked IMDb.
