  1. except whats sad is that they all die later.
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZorwMyOyPOk...feature=related Please somebody watch this and tell me what you think. Now the whole movie Im not discussing - but as to this scene I really like somethings shown in it. The context is the town is being extorted by a gang - and well watch it all. I like the individualism vs. collectivism How the innocent are protected Shows how evil is so weak The music is perfectly timed in my opinion How the Kung Fu heroes do the impossible basically Overall I am emotionally moved when i see this and I cant stop watching this scene. The movie is pretty enjoyable too.
  3. Ennio Morricone is amazing! The good the bad and the ugly, also L'Arena in "the mercenary" is sooo good.
  4. Ayn Rand stated (and Im paraphrasing) in Philosophy: who needs it, Reason and Freedom were corollaries. When people are free they choose reason, and when people are rational they choose freedom. So I don't necessarily agree that we need an entire cultural/philosophical shift before we have a political shift. We do need a philosophical revolution though. It would be very very difficult for an Objectivist to be elected anywhere in the world, but if say that were to happen, or at the very least a Barry Goldwater non compassionate, non neocon, pro reason conservative well then it would only open the doors to more freedom, more wealth, and more reason.
  5. My favorites, Curb Your Enthusiasm, only seen it a few times, but hilarious South Park, always great except, when they said Atlas Shrugged was garbage Law and Order, Jack McCoy so awesome ROME, just a really cool show Kudlow & Company, free maket defender MAD MONEY, You can't afford to miss it!
  6. Arizona, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennesse and South Carolina do not have minimum wage laws. I live in Canada, and I guess in the Nunavut Territories, where maybe 10 people live there is a minimum wage of around $20. That is so sad. The province of Alberta un-arguably the most pro-capitalist province used to have the lowest minimum wage up until last september and had and still has the highest economic growth in Canada. Coincidence?
  7. Here I am with Marilyn Monroe in Vegas, I look afraid.
  8. This might help you aswell when you are arguing with a Marxist or anyone else. Know if the person is sincere and actually cares about the poor, if they actually are of that Utilitarian breed, (if a Marxist they probably are not) then use practical and moral arguments to justify Capitalism. For example, the poor in more Capitalist countries are far better off then in other countries. Or Economic Freedom breeds economic growth and wages usually go up. Then use a moral argument such as "non-initiation of force". Those arguments should help them change their mind and become more like us Objectivists. This only works though if they do not know much, and are actually on the inside good sincere people. But if you come across an evil nihilistic type of person, whom hates the good for being good, then they most likely won't change their opinion. Just use moral arguments like "non-initation of force" to show they are morally wrong. You can throw in a practical argument but that will probably not be as succesful because they are so anti-reason. Good people are easilly convinced. Evil people, well there is no point trying to convince, just prove them wrong in front of good people. I don't know if that will help you any, but I just thought I would throw it out there.
  9. Thanks for the Congrats Bold Standard.
  10. I have become much more honest, and I have a higher self esteem; among other things.
  11. Howdy Everybody! I have been taking a good look at Objectivism for over a year and I feel now I can call myself an Objectivist. It has taken me a while because I used to be a pretty Conservative kid, and I had a hard time with the question of Abortion and the existence of God, but I have come out on the Objectivist side on both those issues and now here I am. I live in Calgary Alberta, the last really free city in Canada, in the last really free province. Alberta is a lot more like the U.S. then Canada (my opinion) and it was settled by a lot of American cowboys and oilmen. Us Albertans are pro-freedom and pro-capitalism. I love Alberta, I love America and I love Objectivism. Thanks everybody for letting me have my little soapbox. I look forward to some good discussions.
