  1. But Greebo you can't really comprehend what you read when you feel bored reading so I don't see a problem with Johnny.
  2. I saw this quote appear on the top half of this site. "The problem isn't that Johnny can't read. The problem isn't even that Johnny can't think. The problem is that Johnny doesn't know what thinking is; he confuses it with feeling." He can't read because he confuses thinking and feeling? That doesn't make sense to me.
  3. I don't think it is that serious if you don't vote. If you live in California or New York and you vote for McCain it doesn't really matter because those states will more than likely go to Obama anyway. You are in the minority.
  4. GM and Chrysler to merge? Big drop in global auto sales predicted... http://money.cnn.com/2008/10/11/news/compa...dex.htm?cnn=yes
  5. I would call the cops if that were the case but that is just how I am.
  6. Well she has been getting more attention than Biden, McCain, and Obama on this board since she was chosen as VP.
  7. Maybe he enjoys winning arguments. I would help you DA but I'm a beginner myself.
  8. I can't seem to find any videos of Objectivists debating other people on certain topics. It's always Rep. Vs. Dem., or Dem. Vs. Lib. etc... Can somebody post some debates involving Objectivists up?
  9. Do you have the right to yell "FIRE!" or "BOMB!" inside a plane or a public place? Do you have the right to print or say Classified information(Remember the Geraldo Rivera incident)??? If you do have the right to do these things then you shouldn't be penalized for them, correct? Also don't people that get the death penalty have there rights taken away??? If so then rights can't be said to be absolute. Am I right?
  10. Well I don't know if they were any better back in the day. In the 80s they were saying that socialism was the wave of the future.
  11. Philosophers haven't had the best of luck with long term relationships have they??? I'd like to be logical here and add that I think that it is unfair to compare a new, exciting, taboo fantasy relationship to one you've been in for years(?) where there are bills to pay, and a house to run. That is a ridiculous comparison in my opinion.
  12. So What? I know many people who have read Atlas Shrugged and are still communist to the core. After reading it and after a little "critical thinking" they say that she is trying to create an elitest society.
  13. People getting an unfair advantage over the competition by using illegal performance enhancing drugs. If the government didn't intervene in the Balco case I think Balco would still be going strong today.
  14. I'm kind of reminded of The Radio Act Of 1927. Before the government intervened the Radio was complete and utter chaos. What do you think? Should the government get involved with Pro Sports too? Why or why not. Good did come out of the government intervening with the Balco case last year.
  15. But don't you think it would be in "MY" best interest to vote for Obama since I will not be making $250,000 anytime soon?
  16. I'm not well read in economics so it's easy for me to get tripped up in this area and I was talking about Obama's tax cuts on another forum. Someone said that "Obama's plan is what you call bottom up economics. Some people don't understand that when you ease the tax burden on the lower and middle class, they will spend more resulting in higher profits for small businesses, thus creating a larger upper class. This works much better than "trickle down" economics." Is what he is saying legitimate? I kind of got a hunch that it is not but like I said before I'm totally virgin to economics. I'm getting further and further away from Obama everyday.
  17. Obama is attacking her because as soon as she got elected McCain started leading in the Polls. We'll see what happens 8 months from now. You can dress a book in any kind of cover you want but the content inside of the book remains the same. Ehhh.. Charismatic???... They are all actors. May the best actor who puts on the best show win!!!
  18. Like a bunch of balogny. Also Palin needs to tell her speech writer to get their facts straight. Here is an article here... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_.../cvn_fact_check
  19. Yeah, Bush was saying pretty much the same things before he first got elected.
  20. I'm still trying to decide who I'm going to vote for.
  21. I have a feeling that your article is going to get dissected. Notice how people are waiting so long before they reply. Some people here are diehard Republicans. Nice try though.
  22. True, but that is politics. A vast majority of people know that it doesn't matter. It's just that media has to have something to talk about. Here are what some religious people had to say about all this... "We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances. "Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have," Dobson said. - James dobson, Focus on the Family Founder "This is the pro-life choice. The fact that people will criticize her for this shows the astounding extent to which the secular critics of the pro-life movement just don't get it." "Those who criticize the Palin family don't understand that we don't see babies as a punishment but as a blessing. Barack Obama said that if one of his daughters made a mistake and got pregnant out of wedlock, he wouldn't want her to be punished with a child. Pro-lifers don't see a child as punishment." -Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission "Fortunately, Bristol is following her mother and father's example of choosing life in the midst of a difficult situation." "We are committed to praying for Bristol and her husband-to-be and the entire Palin family as they walk through a very private matter in the eyes of the public." -Tony Perkins, Family Research Council President If a Democrat, Libertarian or Green had done this, you know these same people would be crucifying them as a prime example of the decline in American culture. Also, Barack Obama talks about the relevance of the baby issue here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLu4IlvAJf4
