  1. I normally don't post very often, but this issue was brought to my attention a week ago or so while I was watching on the John Stossel program hosted by the Fox business channel, and it simply amazes me how wildly ignorant both the media and the politicians can be. I myself am a mere child, and it's truly astonishing for me to see that these adult leftists are unwilling, not unable, to understand what I have understood at 13. There's no excuse for the state of mental degradation that they're in.
  2. Problem solved. However, I'm still trying to get the gist of Objectivism, so I can't promise that I will not post questions of this manner.
  3. The question was strictly hypothetical, but as I look back at it, it wasn't a well thought out one. At times, my mind seems to experience fleeting moments of weakness in which I complicate everything when there's no need to, so an accurate description would be, just as John Link said, I think I have a problem, but I really don't.
  4. As a beginning for my dilemma, I'd like to quote a small section of Philosophy: Who Needs It. Although this probably has already been asked, I've searched for a bit of time to see whether or not an answer to a specific question about Identity applied to my case, and shockingly enough, I couldn't find anything. I'll begin by saying I'm not confident in my searching abilities, but this question has been itching at me while my hands are tied behind my back, and I desperately need to scratch it. If "things are what they are," and our senses act as input, then what if a man in an asylum sees a completely different reality than that which the average person sees? How would you know whether or not it is he that is correct, or the majority, if in his reality, there are no contradictions as well? How can you say that what you perceive is correct, and that the man that sees differently is deluded? I'm unfortunately very confused at the moment, and I would greatly appreciate it if one of you could clear me up on the subject.
  5. Oh, trust me, I'd never take in anything without considering the nature of that which has been spoken, if it even has an intelligible nature. Hypothetically accepting a message and allowing your mind to find the consequences is a good method. But still though, I'll be careful, and thank you all for your warm welcomes .
  6. It amazes me how long it took me to come up with the idea of looking on the internet to see if like-minded individuals created a forum based on Objectivism. But anyways, back to the introduction. I'm thirteen years old, half way through 8th grade, and I discovered Ayn Rand about a year ago after my father introduced me to Atlas Shrugged. It took me 3 months to finish Atlas Shrugged after countless times misplacing it (I'm clumsy), and ever since, I've read The Fountainhead, Anthem , ITOE, and PWNI. I'm dying to get away from the people in my school in NY, and hopefully, this place will provide me with a wider understanding of Objectivism and its tenets. I'm looking forward to acquainting myself with all of the members of this forum, and I'm hoping that I will be accepted with open arms.
