Life is Beautiful is one of my favorite films of all time. It's certainly the best foreign film I've ever seen (sorry, We the Living).

Well I'm glad we share the same taste. I'm looking for other movies that I'll like as much as that one. I just saw Shawshank Redemption, which was surprisingly good. Other than that I can't think of any prominent movies that I want to see, so somebody give me ideas. What do you objectivists watch? I trust your judgement.

For an idea of my taste, other than Life is Beautiful, I like Braveheart, Gattaca, The Truman Show, Cool Hand Luke...that's really all I can think of in the realm of drama.

This is the one movie besides The Lion King that has a permanent status on my "current favorite movies" list, and of course it's on my "all-time favorite movies" list.

The first time I saw this movie, it was late at night, I was barely awake, and I didn't realise the boy was reunited with his mother. Subsequently, the second time I saw it I enjoyed it much more.

If you like Cool Hand Luke you should definitely check out The Hustler. It's Newman's greatest role and one of my personal favorites. My highest recommendation.
