Post the Constitution of this Republic, if you have it, please.

Well, it gave me a good laugh.

Seven Sacred Instructions - Our Constitution

January 3, 2009 by admin

These seven Sacred Rites form the basis of the Constitution of the Republic of Lakotah:

1. The Keeping of the Soul: Wa Nagi Gluhapi

In order to grieve the death of a loved one, this grieving permits the resolution of things left undone, the healing of the Spirit and growth for the greater community. It allows the transition of grief to wholeness.

2. The Rite of Purification (Steam Bath): Inipi

In this honoring, the heat and steam from the fire in the steam bath, allow the participants to joke, laugh, sing and pray, bringing them closer to Wakan Tanka (the Great Mystery) and to honor the womens’ monthly purification.

3. Crying for a Vision: Hanblecayapi

The Crying for a Vision gives the participant responsibility for finding a meaningful pathway through life. During four days of fasting, the participant focuses on prayer and concentration on the meaning of his life and its direction.

4. The Sun Dance: Wiwanyag Wacipi

In this ceremony, Men, the takers of life, honor the Woman, the givers of life. This cerermony involves abstaining from food and water and dancing for four day. They also endure suffering - formerly shedding their own blood - so that others will not suffer. The suffering is to honor Women and Childbirth.

5. The Making of Relatives: Unkapi

Through song and prayer to Wakan Tanka (the Great Mystery), the exchange of sacramental food and smoking from the sacred pipe, an enduring bond of community is formed between people welcoming the new citizens to our Nation by giving them a family and clan.

6. Preparing a Girl for Womanhood (Puberty Rite): Isna Ta Awica Lowan

This puberty ceremony purifies a girl who has her first menstrual period, preparing her for womanhood and childbirth. In a tipi built by the girl’s family, a holy person conducts the ritual with the proper sacred objects.

7. Throwing of the Ball: Tapa Wanka Yap

This former rite, performed only by women, used a ball filled with buffalo hair covered with a red-and-blue painted buffalo, which represented the material and spiritual aspects of the universe. In order to receive a great blessing, participants must choose to reach for the ball, while acknowledging that not everyone will catch it. This is an affair which is designed to bring the village closer together.

No worse than eating the body and drinking the blood of some long dead impossibility, having evil acts forgiven for the sake of a couple of magic phrases, making the symbol of an ancient form of torture over your body as the sign of your piety.

Mysticism is mysticism all just useless fluff of mindless drones and snake oil salesmen.

What is especially annoying is when you run into someone who believes that magic rocks can cure cancer or that praying will make the paraplegic walk again. The only thing more annoying is when these same people point to alleged instances where this worked and yet have absolutely no scientific proof that it worked - and then proceed to damn (or dismiss) science

That's because prayer is the mystic's way of omnipotence without the risk of looking like a fool. If by chance or for an unknown reason, what they wanted does happen, it's because some divinity willed it from their prayer. If it doesn't happen, then their divinity merely "didn't will it to be done".

7. Throwing of the Ball... lol!

Let's add this...

8. Airing of Grievances

9. Feats of Strength

Oh, wait a minute...

I don't think it's nice to make fun of other peoples cultural differences. I'm sure they have a very good reason for placing the right to "ball throwing" above something lame like the right to a speedy trial, trial by jury, double jeopardy, or freedom from cruel and unusual punishment.
