Guest Erik Martinsen
TEDTalks hit a new low by bringing on the "philosopher-comedian" Emily Levine. About 5:30 into her lecture (from April 9th), she starts smearing Ayn Rand, The Ayn Rand Institute (mistakenly called the Ayn Rand Foundation), The Fountainhead and Objectivism by name, and of course connects it all to Alan Greenspan. 01503
She's not even funny as a comedian. Her saying that ARI is anti-intellectual because they oppose what university professors are doing is like saying you oppose doctors because you loath Harold Shipman. IchorFigure
Well the video says it's from 2002 so it's not "sinking to a new low", I guess they hit that low 7 years ago (further evidenced by the old Enron and Kenneth Lay jokes and the now unhip metal lunch box). TED has some genuinely interesting stuff at times, but this ain't it. Edited April 29, 2009 by IchorFigure
Guest Erik Martinsen
Well the video says it's from 2002 Where does it say that though? It starts with the TED logo, then goes directly to the hippie comedian. YouTube says it was published in April 2009.
Eiuol
"Emily Levine: A trickster's theory of everything" Enough said. I really had no what her point was. TED does have some videos that I've liked: and http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/tim_fer...n_anything.html are a few. So really I don't think the issue is with TED. It's just that "ideas" from people like Emily Levine are very common.
TheEgoist
What an ugly person, in and out.

YouTube says it was published in April 2009. It says it during the video about 45sec. in. I could see why it'd be easy to miss. TED must be drudging up old videos and putting them online I'd guess.
