Which popular science books would you recommend? Which did you enjoy and why?

I enjoyed "A Short History Of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson. I would like to read more popular science books, I have a great interest in all the natural sciences despite being not very good in it (at least that was in school). I want to avoid books that, for example, promote a world view similar to that Harriman warned against in his lectures (see "The Crisis in Physics", Ayn Rand Bookstore). So do you know of any good books I might enjoy?
