I hate to play the pessimist here.

While I'm glad for the decision that fact it was 5-4 is great cause for alarm.

That means 4 out of 9 of the justices do not believe in or support the US Constition.

That means we are just one vote away at any given time from losing our freedoms.

This distribution has existed and will continue to exist for some time. However: that time is about another dozen+ years. Obviously Obama won't be relevant, and you might expect more of a shift away from radical left politics when Kennedy and Scalia retire. The problem is, if the Wicked Witch of Wassila takes power, any replacements would also be bad and we would be just as likely to lose our freedoms with a new right-wing justice. We would simply lose different rights.

I think we probably disagree on how much damage the Obama administration can do.
I don't know, probably not: I simply mean that he's unlikely to have a crack at replacing Scalia or Kennedy.
