SapereAude
Disclaimer: I haven't listened to these yet, I don't have the ability to where I'm at and will be for the rest of the evening. It came recommended by someone I generally respect, I'm only posting it without listening to it first because it will only be available according to the website for 5 more days and I'd like anyone interested to have a chance to hear it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00t7hhf
Drregaleagle
McCarthy had good goals, but his poor methods allowed the Communists to hide and they continue to subvert our freedoms today as they spread like a cancer over the world. rebelconservative
I presume this was the David Aaronovitch programme on Radio 4 the other day, I was most surprised to hear it coming from the BBC. For the most part, it is a good, if brief, expose of hundreds of Russian/communist/fellow-travellers who had infiltrated the US government in the 50s using recently declassified US documents. Of course, it then goes on to say that if McCarthy wasn't such a mad, paranoid drunk, that we'd have been better able to find and remove these moles (this is a reasonable assessment, but coming from the BBC, also quite irritating, when you know they would not have cared to investigate commie agents). Certainly worth a listen.
