Yeah, Tony Blair's argument was literally: "Altruism altruism altruism, faith faith, altruism. Yay God!"

Hitchens had a great opening argument, going right for the throat of mysticism and altruism and all the destruction it causes, but unfortunately his counter arguments lapsed into "But we don't need religion to be altruistic, we can do that because we 'just know' altruism is the way to go!" :dough:

Blair was out of his league. Hitchens is far beyond the usual pedanticism of convinced Catholics. And even if Hitchens thinks altruism is the way to go, we certainly wouldn't be worse off taking up his position on the issue of God and religion. One step at a time, as the saying goes.
