SapereAude
http://spectator.org/archives/2011/09/08/letter-to-a-liberal-friend/ Generally not a fan of this publication, it tends to lean hardline religious right. This letter oped piece though focuses on observations about the hypocrisies inherent in the beliefs of the academic "liberal elites". Not a whole lot of new information here really, but as I've been fascinated lately by wealthy white people proclaiming the evils of wealthy white people I found it worth the read. TheEgoist
There seems to be in this article a populist disdain for those who go into careers that are more intellectual and academic than narrowly practical. This has always perturbed me. "Oh, them fancy scientists n lawyers n professors ain't done nothin for me! It's all about the men that forged metal in a steel mill!". Granted, many people do live in the proverbial ivory tower, but to sneer at that way of life in general is just silly.
