DragonMaci
Here are my favourites (in order): - Mony Python - Black Adder (except Back and Forth) - Fawlty Towers (except Meaning of Life) - Simpsons - Family Guy. - Frasier - Fawlty Towers - Men In Tights - Spaceballs - Southpark - Seinfeld - King of Hill - Whose Line Is It Anyway - Drew Carey There may be others, but for now I can't recall what they are. If I remember what they are I will add them in a new post.
The Wrath
As far as movies go, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. For TV shows, definitely Family Guy and South Park. Best South Park moment: Martha Stewart eats a turkey with her rectum. Best Family Guy moment: "Scrub, scrub here, Scrub, scrub there, Whether your white or bronze, A man can wash another man, In the merry old land of Oz!" Best Family Guy moment #2: "Oh my God, there's a bear in my oatmeal!" Edited November 20, 2005 by Moose
the tortured one
I'm not a huge TV person, but there are a few things I love. King of the hill is my favorite animated show. Hank is so pure, so upright, so unflinching in his convictions that it can get him in some crazy situations, but he always wins in the end. Though he is a christian, and therefor the morals are based on the christian ethic, the fact that he is portrayed as a virtuous and morally couragous man is inspiring in this day and age where moral relativity reigns supreme. Who wasn't rooting for Hank when he painted "Diminished Glutes" on the side of his lawnmower for the annual lawnmower race? I loved the Kings of Comedy. D.L Hugley, Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and Bernie Mac were the stand ups who let it all hang out. I like to see people in the spotlight who have the gall to be confident and proud about who they are. And Bernie Mac's tirade about kids was classic. as far as stand ups go, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, and Chris Rock go without saying, but I'd like to add someone new to the list: Robin Williams. His stand-up comedy acts are some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen. And finally, something I have just jumped into with both feet foward, is the Dave Chapelle Show. What is it about Dave Chapelle that makes everything he satires hilarious? He is the master at drawing his own jokes out long enough to remind people of all the times they've laughed, but never to the point of overdoing the joke. His satire of Lil' John, Rick James, George Bush, among countless others will have you laughing for hours. Anyone who hasn't seen the show needs to watch it. The fact that people are killing his jokes by overusing them does nothing to belittle the original comedic value of this ingenius show. Groovenstein
Best Family Guy moment #2: . . . #3 Vacuum guy: "Turns out a half-eaten meatball was clogging up the intake." Peter: "Oh. Did you save it? Vacuum guy: "Uh, no." Peter: "You bastard." #4 Brian: "My therapist thinks he's figured out what my problem is." Peter: "Oh yeah? What does Sigmund Fraud think it is?" Brian: "He thinks I'm in love." Peter: "Oh my God . . . You can talk!" #5 Peter: "My dad worked at that mill for 60 years. That's almost 80 years!" I better stop now because I could do this for a long time.
FeatherFall
[...]Best South Park moment: Martha Stewart eats a turkey with her rectum[...] If I remember correctly, that was the episode where "eating backwards" became a fad along with atheism. A theme through that episode was that that atheists crap out of their mouths. I could appreciate that one and not get offended. Sometimes, it is the subtle stuff that's the best. The theme wasn't so much that atheism was crap as much as it was the secularism was crap. Bad theme, but that doesn't make it any less hilarious to watch Martha Stewart eat a turkey with her ass. A lot of people have mentioned George Carlin...while I agree that he is a funny man and his anti-religious humor can be amusing, don't forget that he is a radical, anti-American leftist. I also agree with King of the Hill...one of my favorite shows, although I rarely watch it anymore. Another favorite Family Guy moment: Brian: Yeah, this pamphlet doesn't mention anything about German history between 1939 and 1945. German tour guide: Everyvun vuz on vacation! Brian: No, no, Germany invaded Poland in 1939 and... German tour guide: Ve vere invited! Punch vuz served! Check vith Poland! Brian: You can't just ignore those years... German tour guide: I vill hear no more insinuations about ze German people! Nossing bad happened ! ::Begins yelling in German and giving the Nazi salute:: Edited November 20, 2005 by Moose

More like disgusting. I'm willing to put up with a lot from South Park, but that was pushing it too far even for them. And watching Martha Stewart and others eat with their ass is not funny as far as I am concerned. It is revolting. But worse yet is their crapping out of their mouth. RationalBiker
Best Family Guy moment: Brian: "Well, Peter, if you plan to pull a party out of your ass, you better stand up." --- I also liked the scene in one episode where Peter is weighing whether he should lie to his wife and the devil pops up on one shoulder and tells him why he should. When he looks over at the other shoulder for the angel there's none there and he says, "Hey, where's the other guy?"

All one hears here is: You are a bad person because Hitler existed. You must from now on unconditionally love everyone from other countries even if he behaves like a complete asshole. Otherwise you are a racist, nazi, you-name-it ... We had a big discussion here about if you are a racist if you are against Turkey entering the European Union. That was fun! khaight
I also liked the scene in one episode where Peter is weighing whether he should lie to his wife and the devil pops up on one shoulder and tells him why he should. When he looks over at the other shoulder for the angel there's none there and he says, "Hey, where's the other guy?" There was another scene similar to this in which the little devil guy and the little angel guy pop up, and the devil pulls a tiny gun out and plugs the angel, killing him instantly. Then he holds the gun to Peter's head and forces him out of the house to Do Evil™. That's what I call a *serious* failure of conscience! An exchange I liked from a different show, Futurama: Farnsworth: Good news, everyone! Bender: Uh oh, I don't like the sound of that. Farnsworth: You're off to deliver a package to [some planet]... Bender: Here it comes... Farnsworth: Deep in the dark heart of the Forbidden Zone! Bender: Thank you, and good night. Leela: Um, Professor, are we even *allowed* in the Forbidden Zone? Farnsworth: Of course! It's just a name, like the Death Zone or the Zone of No Return. All the zones have names like that in the Galaxy of Terror. Off you go! I also have to give props to Bender's conversation with God in the episode "Godfellas". Some highlights: Bender: Do you know what I'm going to do before I do it? God: Yes. Bender: What if I do something different? God: Then I don't know that. And later: God: Bender, being God isn't easy. If you do too much, people get dependent on you. If you do too little, they lose hope. You have to use a light touch, like a safecracker or a pickpocket. Bender: Or a guy who burns down a bar for the insurance money! God: Yes, if you make it look like an electrical thing.

The subtlety I was referring to involved the way those visuals showed the creators' evaluations of how athiests promote their ideas. Obviously, I disagree with that evaluation (it seemed to include all athiests), even if some "crap out of their mouths."
The Wrath
Ugh, you guys never should have started me on Family Guy, because now I can't stop. Another favorite was the advertisement for the movie "The Joe Swanson Story," that has Peter played by Bea Arthur. The Petercopter and the Hindenpeter. Peter mistakenly entering the "Beyond" section of Bed, Bath, and Beyond. The trailer for Passion of the Christ 2: Crucify This. I don't think I have ever laughed harder than when I heard, "Let he who is without sin...kick the first ass." Peter's farting contest with Michael Moore...yes, I sometimes enjoy bathroom humor. Peter getting an award for saving the bartender...you know, the one where the award ceremony is an exact replication of the one from the end of Star Wars, complete with C3PO, R2D2, and Chewbacca. Inspector
If we're posting our favorite Futurama quotes: Free Waterfall Junior: "We're with mankind for ethical animal treatment. Popplers are little creatures. You got to stop harvesting them for food." Bender: "Or what?" Free Waterfall Junior: "Or we'll boycott Fishy Joe's." Leela: "You're vegetarians. Who cares what you do?" Free Waterfall Junior: "Shut up!" Leela: "Animals eat other animals. It's nature." Free Waterfall Junior: "No it isn't. We taught a lion to eat tofu." Lion (which is emaciated and gray): *cough* .......... *cough*
The Wrath
Peter: Brian, Brian, check it out! Groovenstein
Peter's farting contest with Michael Moore I got a kick out of how much that sounded like an old school video game. Dangit, now you got me going again. Remember the episode where Meg pretended to be a welfare mom and Stewie ends up living with a foster family? That bit where he pushes over the bookshelf and says "pancakes" just kills me.

I think it was supposed to sound like Dueling Banjos, from the movie, Deliverance. And, yeah, I've seen the one you're talking about. Although, I prefer the part where Stewie is living with the multicultural family and convinces all of the adopted children that they're supposed to hate each other. I liked another exchange from the Futurama section that Inspector posted: Free Waterfall Jr.: You can't *own* property, man. Farnsworth: *I* can, but that's because I'm not a penniless hippy! I'm still trying to figure out "Peanut Butter Jelly Time" from last Sunday's Family Guy. Apparently it became a cliche on fark.com about 30 seconds after airing. Which, for some reason, reminds me of yet another FG flashback in which Brian discovers he has been hired to direct a pornographic movie. Brian: Just so I make myself perfectly clear, there is absolutely no way I would ever do this... [Jenna Jameson takes off her robe in the background, where Brian can see her]... unless I saw a script first.

Prometheus98876
I like the one where Peter becomes the tobacco rep and he moves into his new office, where he finds a desk bare but for a pencil sharpner and some pencils... So he tries to find something to do (instead of just slipping into a fantasy... wow, unusual for him ). he sharpens the pencils. Then he puts his finger in there, and screams in pain, withdrawing it as though shocked that it hurt, but seeming to have learnt his lesson. Then he stands up, we hear his pants unzip and from the next room we hear him scream... Crude but funny all the same. And the one where Peter thinks "From and for" have been changed around. Peter: "When were the meanings of from and for changed?" Brian: "They had a meeting about it last night, they sent you an invite but you must have thought it was FROM Peter.." Peter: "What.?" Brian: "You know what, its just easier to call you stupid. Edited November 23, 2005 by Prometheus98876
Felix
Okay, Family Guy quotes. Here's mine: Peter is playing trivial pursuit. He answers a question right and brags about having watched the National Geographics Special on firetrucks: (Imagine usual animal documentary commentary voice) "A solitary killer, the firetruck stalks its prey." (You see a firetruck hiding behind grass, then coming out and hunting antilopes, killing one with its ladder and "eating" it) "The firetruck can consume eight times its bodyweight." (Five ambulances arrive but the firetruck defends his meal by honking) "The ambulances will have to wait their turn."
DragonMaci
The sad part is that according to the end of the episode it's true. At least based on the way the fire truck attacked Peter anyway. I like this bit: "Peter what colour is a red fire truck?" And Peter is trying to figure it out for a while and he says something like "Now what colour is a red fire truck? I know this one." And: "Peter, say the word 'what"." And takes ages and eventually says "Is it 'what'?", clearly uncertain. Peter's probably even stupider than Homer Simpson (if that's possible). gnargtharst
Since it is Thanksgiving, and the topic is comedy, I recommend Steve Martin and John Candy in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". It was each of their best movie, I think. Being a huge fan of both stars, I love the movie. Just watched it again (a Thanksgiving-eve tradition). Still laugh, all these years later.
