TheCerebro
When you first meet a person, how do you rationally access their value? Under what circumstances would you help a person who was poor or ill and unable to help themselves?
Concerto of Atlantis
In response to your second question: I would only help a poor or ill person if I saw potential in them. In other words, I would only be charitable towards someone because of their virtues (or possible virtues) rather than just because they 'needed' my help. dondigitalia
When you first meet a person, how do you rationally access their value? In the same manner that you assess the value of everything else: By the sum total of all knowledge you have about them (however little that may be). As you obtain more knowledge about a person, your judgement may change.
