The Wrath
http://richarddawkins.net/article,904,Dine...tsula-Daily-Kos Definitely worth a read.
Mimpy
That was compassionate and very beautifully written. Thanks for sharing. D'Souza: If this is the best that modern science has to offer us, I think we need something more than modern science. A blatant example of people's desire to create their own reality, or re-write the one that exists to fit their own fears and desires. The Wrath
Sadly, this is the way Christians usually argue against atheism. They admit that atheism makes more sense, but argue that religion is more practical for reasons of comfort and meaning. That letter was originally posted on what appears to be a rather radically left-wing website, but that doesn't take away from its poignancy in respect to the subject at hand. I agree that it is beautifully written...it has a sort of poetic quality to it.
LaszloWalrus
I used to like D'Souza (I've met him several times, as his daughter attended my school), and he lives near me, but after what he said there... ugh. Doing a search for some articles of his, I found this, arguable more repugnant article: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1121/p09s01-coop.html
Dorian
Magnificent. On a side note... Richard Dawkins was in a recent Southpark episode which I thought was just hilarious. I didn't know who Richard Dawkins was until now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_God_Go
The Wrath
I actually thought that was one of the worst episodes they've had in a while. Part of the reason I hated it was because of its message...South Park usually has very positive messages, but that episode was incredibly anti-atheist. Then there's the fact that the show just isn't funny anymore. I used to like D'Souza (I've met him several times, as his daughter attended my school), and he lives near me, but after what he said there... ugh. Doing a search for some articles of his, I found this, arguable more repugnant article: http://www.csmonitor.com/2006/1121/p09s01-coop.html There are people out there who will put up sophisticated arguments against atheism. But the arguments made by D'souza are immature, at best. That guy's an idiot.
