    By RadCap,
For those of you who run or belong to an Objectivist Club on your campus, you may want to consider the offer being made by Harry Binswanger: http://www.hblist.com/campus.htm Being one of the charter members of his email list, I can attest to its value, both in content and as a broad based forum for Objectivists to discuss ideas with the brightest Objectivist minds.

Greets.... this shall be post #2, as I only noticed that there was an Introductions forum this evening... I'm Jim May, an Objectivist since 1987, and once fairly active on alt.philosophy.objectivism and then later humanities.philosophy.objectivism, from 1994-96. (Speaking of which, I'd like to know if anyone knows where Jason Kuznicki is these days.) Hailing originally from Canada, I've spent the last six-plus years in the United States, living in Las Vegas, Portland OR, Minneapolis a

    Defining "Objectivism"

    Evangelical Capitalist
    By Evangelical Capitalist,
I have often read on this board, someone proclaiming "Objectivism is what Ayn Rand said, no more and no less," or something to that same effect. Dr. Peikoff has used this definition of Objectivism to suuport his "closed-system" position, at least insofar as I understand his position. (Disclaimer: It is not my intention to discuss the "open-ness" or "closed-ness" of Objectivism, nor to create a microcosm of the ARI/TOC battle.) My question here is in regard to whether such a definition conform

What other movements or thinkers are compatible on a political level with Objectivism? (even if they might differ on an epistemological or metaphysical level, they share the same ethics and politics) Do you know of any? What's the Oist attitude toward them?

    By NIJamesHughes,
A few nights ago on MSNBC there was a program that was celebrationing Sesame Streets 35th anniversery. The show was credited with teaching millions of children how to read, count, and "social skills." The makers of the show explained how individuals would approch them and tell of how their child watched as much as 5 hours a day. The news reporter was especially thrilled by the was the show handled the topic of death, in fact she said it was brilliant. They played the scene. One of the long

    Trade vs. Force&Fraud

    gabrielpm
    By gabrielpm,
The basic requirements of survival and prosperity can be met via trade, force, fraud or a mixture of the 3. It is my understanding that the Objectivist stance is that trade `is optimal`, meaning that if trade were to be implemented, it would yeld best results (at an individual level, and secondarly at a group level, but as a side-effect). Another phrasing could be that `more a society relies on trade for its inner dealings, more it is prosperous`. Am I correct in this simple interpretat
