Objectivism Is The Everyman's Philosophy
In the universe, what you see is what you get,
figuring it out for yourself is the way to happiness,
and each person's independence is respected by all

Essays forum?
By MinorityOfOne,
Admins,
I'd like to suggest creating a forum section for the essays listed on the main page. This website would be a good place to get commentary & criticism on one's work, but it's unlikely to work very well when none of the comments would show up in a "View New Posts" search
Also, I don't know how many other people do this, but I have the site bookmarked to go directly to the forums. If that's common, there might be a lot of people who don't even know the essays are there. Wit
Postmodernism and Holocaust denial
By Invictus,
As a part of my year 12 Extension history course, I was required to write an essay on a historiographical issue of my choosing. I thought some of you may be interested in it. An explanation of the selected topic is contained in the synopsis.

Has the Irving trial and Holocaust denial highlighted weaknesses in postmodernist thought about the nature of history?

Booby Traps
By Old Geezer,
Is the Use of Booby traps with purposefully deadly force to protect one's property moral?
Can it be made illegal on the basis that Police must be able to access private property without fear in emergencies or when it is suspected that someone's rights are being violated inside the property?
What other issues are involved?
Hello from CapMag forums
By erik,
My name is Erik and I usually post on the capmag forum. I was on the old board there for years as a poster and lurker before it changed and all the old threads were lost.
Recently there has been in place a 10 minute waiting period between posts and Zirjin had recommended this forum as an alternative.
I've been a student of Objectivism for about 7-8 years but there is still lot to know. I'm for starting an objectivist/capitalist political party because obviously the big 2 are not repr

Some personal details:

Problems in Britain - Am Shocked!
By Zirjin,
I wish this was a satire, I really wish it was. But unfortunately, from what I can tell, it is true. I even checked to make sure it wasn't April the 1st yet.
We locked you up in jail for 25 years and you were innocent all along? That’ll be £80,000 please
Normally I am a positive person, seeing that article however, I am shocked & angry beyond belief and am wondering at the moment if I am in a dream/nightmare but when I pinch myself, I know I am awake.
I hope that insane stuff
Hello from Philadelphia.
By AspiringObjectivist,
I've been browsing the board for a while and I'm very interested in a lot of the discussions and intellects that I've seen; it should be fun to converse with you all, and I look forward to it.
I'm a young male in Philadelphia, and I'm a big reader, writer, and football player.
Hey from Texas
By Areactor,
It was probably rude to come in just posting things without an introduction.
Well I’m here in Houston Texas. I’ve been reading Rand for two years now. I’m extremely interested in her philosophy and spreading the love (a.k.a.) logic. I visit the Ludwig Von Mises Institute and Capmag site on a daily basis. I’m just a radical for Capitalism though I’m still in need for more learning.
Hi from Connecticut
By bnittoli,
Hi, I've been browsing the forum for a couple weeks now and decided to finally register.
I discovered Objectivism while I was in gradschool back in the mid 90's. I was looking explicitly for a philosophic base for the beliefs I already held (atheisim, free markets, limited gov't, etc) and found a summary of Ayn Rand's thoughts on the web (which was just getting started). I went straight to OPAR and then read the novels, followed by the rest of the non-fiction. OPAR was great, but it wa
Hello From New York City
By order,
Hello, all. I'd like to be the first to welcome myself to the forum. Yay. I've been poking around for some time, but just last night decided I would register and participate. I'm a twenty-something living in midtown Manhattan and have been acquainted with Objectivism for roughly five years now.
I don't consider myself a philosopher, or even a student of philosophy, objective or otherwise. What I do consider myself is intellectually proactive (but then, who isn't really?)--which is what
