  1. Whenever I lose faith in music, I listen to something like this to remind me that there ARE incredible people make incredible music out there, and that it's just a matter of finding them.
  2. I love the irony of a guy capitalizing on an anti-capitalist movement.
  3. Lulz. I have, for many years, thought that soccer and FIFA was one of the most uninteresting sporting events of TV. I racked this up to being a non-European, but even viewing from an opened mind, I don't understand why people will watch a game that scores an average of 2 points per game, and offers nothing more than mild enjoyment when a player is 'fouled'. In the meantime, I agree that we've got an incredibly interesting NFL season shaping up.
  4. I can't believe the Lions this year . It's a huuuuge change of the tides, if you look at their record from 2008 (and even before) compared to 2011 thus far. I'm sure Jim Schwartz has a whole lot to do with it. In the meantime, the Bills are playing very strong. I wonder if there's any connection to be drawn from cities suffering from a poor economy and well-performing NFL teams. Just look at New Orleans Super-Bowl before last. In other news, the Chiefs are a delightful let-down. Looks like that AFC West crown last year was a fluke. But if the down-economy model is true, I expect a Super Bowl appearance in the next coupla years. Can you guess where my allegiance lies? D'kian, I have to ask: is NFL very big in Mexico City? Or are you an expat?
  5. You're throwing the word 'racism' around much too lightly and carelessly. You have never been prejudged negatively based on your appearance, and never will (unless you live in a predominately non-white community). At the end of the day, you're blonde-haired and blue-eyed, and that's a gift as far as preconceived notions go. You may have been the butt of Polish jokes, as they have become fashionable over the last few years, but you're certainly not the victim of racism.
  6. As a former rider, I can only offer this: Motorcycles are dangerous. Period. My father was killed in a motorcycle accident the day I graduated from high school. Needless to say, humanity lost a great man that day, and I only wish that people who jump on one of these confounded two-wheeled contraptions can see that you're cheating death every time they kick-start. Be careful out there; I guarantee no other motorist is.
  7. No, I think I'm completely correct in my usage: So, when I say that the Simpsons 'jumped the shark' years ago, I'm saying that at some point it lost its freshness, relevance, and humor. But hey, let's not nit-pick here: point is, the show sucks, has sucked, and will suck, and we're all in agreement here.
  8. I just got rid of my bike. Having to fix the thing every other day just wasn't worth the sweet vintage look. PS: those things are dangerous, ride safe.
  9. So the problem is: shut yr trap or lose out? I don't really understand the situation fully, as your job seems purty cryptic. Are you swindling this guy if you take his money? I can't tell if, with the smaller amount this cat's got to offer (2000 euro symbols!), he just won't get the full package (of whatever it is that you're offerin'), or he won't be getting anything at all (of whatever it is that you do). Here's how i'm seeing it: if I were this guy, and I (far as I can understand the situation) wanted to expand my business by hiring an ad agency or a market research firm (is this what you do?), and this firm accepted my meager offerings knowing full well that I would get no benefit, and without mentioning word one to me, I'd be a little more than pissed, and I would never do business with said agency again, and would encourage all my business-owning friends to do the same. Sounds like you're leading this cat, and he doesn't know what he's in for. Don't be a grifter, friend.
  10. I've been wanting to use this reference in perfect context for a while now, and this may be my last chance, so, here goes: The Simpsons jumped the shark years ago!
  11. Will they finally pull this show already? This is indicative of network affairs and show-business in general. I haven't watched Fox in exactly 5 years, after Arrested Development was cancelled. Sure, pull the show that wins consistent Emmy's and critical praise at half the production cost (it was shot on hand-held cameras for chrissake), in favor of the Simpson's: a bloated, unfunny, irrelevant, inconsistent, piece of garbage.
  12. Just replace 'philosophy' with ingenuity, creativity, industriousness, whatever, and I think you've got what the death of Steve Jobs means. None of this Wotan gobbledygook.
  13. So, what's the consensus? I haven't known Mr. Burns to make a crumby documentary; I just wait until it's on Netflix Instant, and watch it in large chunk at a time. Still haven't gotten around to finishing Baseball (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn).
  14. Though there is a dropping of context, I believe you're embellishing the acts that this man perpetrated. I don't know what it means to 'act as a US citizen', or how driving a truck in a country with which we are not at war is 'an act of war', or how being the editor of a jihadist magazine is akin to firing an assault rifle at US troops. His connections to other terrorist acts are very vague at best; the problem iswe don't know, and likely never will. This is going to get put in the 'case closed' file before it's ever open. I'm more than willing to agree that this man was guilty of treason (and with proper evidence, terrorism). But that's not the point. The point is that it's a scary proposition to grant the Executive the right to choose who can be assassinated without due process. We may not be crossing the Rubicon, but the temptation is surely there for anyone currently in power to do so.
  15. The Whiskey Rebellion will never stand for another prohibition.
  16. "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation." Obviously, in this case, an American citizen was "deprived of life" without due process or an indictment from a Grand Jury. It would have been very easy to charge and try him in absentia, find him, and hang him for treason. I wouldn't lose any sleep over that outcome, but what we've got here is a secretive and hush-hushed murder by unmanned aircraft on an untried citizen whose ties with AQ are unclear at best. Even confirmed confederate war criminals got better treatment (a nice treason trial and expeditious execution) than this guy.
  17. I don't see casting a vote as a waste of either time or money. I know that a lot of people on this forum aren't privy to the idea of voting for someone they don't agree with on every issue 100%, and talking about these things on the internet is fine, but I'll be voting in the primary and general (for Ron Paul, if Gary Johnson doesn't make any ground). Neither of which wastes my time or money.
  18. Those are great. PS: Is your name a Dr. Who reference?
  19. I wish I could offer help, but I'm the type that bungles every relationship I'm in (I'm sort of an expert on saying the wrong thing every time). Last relationship was with a Catholic. Let's just say we had our 'differences'. But if the love is there, don't fret it. You'll either feel compelled to learn about Objectivism yourself (which you've already shown to be the case), and/or he'll be compelled to help you to understand (also seems to be the case). Sounds like a good affair to me.

    Recording

Hiya folks. I was wondering if anyone in the forums does any recording, and if so, would anyone like to share? I've started recording again, myself, and would like to discuss other's processes and such. So if you're into it, post something you've done, or any thoughts you may have on technique. WC
  21. That is why I encourage everyone I can to knock off their idling cries of Ron Paul having no chance, and voting in the primaries. It's his only chance. This isn't to say I specifically endorse Paul; I simply endorse trying to be part of the process, and not leaving the of picking candidates to the MSM and conservatives with plenty of time on their hands.
  22. I don't really wish to speak to anything here, other than the doomed, defeatist attitude floated by many. "I'm not voting for X because he/she has no chance of winning," is quite an egregious view to take on, well, anything. Why not give up on all and everything you support or believe in?
  23. You'll find that most forums are influenced by the incivility of a Levitical slaughter, if we're gonna make this biblical.
