    Do away with religion?

Any sort of opinion I can offer will be devoid of any real insight, as I've never been, and don't understand the myriad sectarian/national/tribal quirks.

Why can't we all just get along?

I can't believe the Lions this year .

It's a huuuuge change of the tides, if you look at their record from 2008 (and even before) compared to 2011 thus far. I'm sure Jim Schwartz has a whole lot to do with it. In the meantime, the Bills are playing very strong. I wonder if there's any connection to be drawn from cities suffering from a poor economy and well-performing NFL teams. Just look at New Orleans Super-Bowl before last.

In other news, the Chiefs are a delightful let-down. Looks like that AFC West crown last year was a fluke. But if the down-economy model is true, I expect a Super Bowl appearance in the next coupla years. Can you guess where my allegiance lies?

D'kian, I have to ask: is NFL very big in Mexico City? Or are you an expat?

Just replace 'philosophy' with ingenuity, creativity, industriousness, whatever, and I think you've got what the death of Steve Jobs means. None of this Wotan gobbledygook.

    Why are you so combative?

Winter and Yule (let's cut the Christ out of a lovely tradition) are very contemplative and beautiful. I say celebrate it, if you enjoy it, but don't fall for any equation to Christ or any mystical elements.

When I say Big Budget, I don't mean in a Transformers sense, but more along the lines of Doctor Zhivago, or any of the old MGM epics. It takes money to make a sweeping, visually striking, well acted film. AS is obviously an epic in every sense of the word. It's sprawling, occurs over many years, contains romance, intrigue, villainy, mystery, philosophy, and yes, action sequences (the gunfight at Rearden's plant would be pretty cool to see).

Hire a good screenwriter, director, cinematographer, crew, and actors; on-site shooting and studio space, props, set design, wardrobe. To keep it a period piece you'd need to rent hundreds of old cars, build art-deco sets, and do all that good stuff. This would be a huge film crew, and a large supporting crew. We're talking serious money, and this doesn't touch on the salary good actors would be asking.

Epic is a dirty word in Hollywood these days, and Ayn Rand is downright vile.

PS: a young Rutger Hauer would have made a great Ragnar.

I don't see anything wrong about going green, for I think it is the next step in the evolution of energy and doing so is selfish if you live in cities and want better air quality for yourself or to save money at the pump. However, people like 10:10 who want to use governmental force to make the market turn in their favor are immoral and irrational for thinking that would work, for if it does happen it should be done through free market forces, which is something these leftists fail to understand.
