  1. I hear that. How does one go through life explaining all this stuff to people who don't do research and who refuse to think? It's a lot like when I wave my Civil Flag at home or in my cafe... people get a queer look on their face and ask, "What the hell is that?" I get tired of explaining. Sometimes it is best to just leave well enough alone.
  2. "Fair tax"? "Flat tax"? Why would anybody want any income tax? We should be working together to abolish the illegal, unConstitutional and undeserved income tax altogether and seeing to it that the unConstitutional and criminal organizations that are the IRS and the Federal Reserve are brought to heel and those who are responsible for perpetuating these institutions are brought to full justice. That's my view of the situation anyway.
  3. I got mine from the folks over at the Atlas Society. I just ordered the movie soundtrack, too. I am thinking seriously about getting one of those wall hangings with the shards of actual film from making the movie. Very cool. I had an autographed poster from Michael Paxton just after his release of "Ayn Rand: A Sense of Life" documentary, back in the 90s. The poster was destroyed by water damage however. Damn! That was a cool poster. Loved it.
  4. Thanks for posting. I've also heard this argument. I've been looking for an alternative to the sign of the dollar as a symbol for money, as a symbol of the trader. Any suggestions?
  5. I hear you. Very cool. I got out of numismatics a long time ago. To me, an ounce of silver is an ounce of silver. If someone comes to my store with some fancy coin and expects to get more than its silver content in exchange for goods -- he's going to be very disappointed. I buy only junk silver, silver bullion and I collect copper pennies and I only take delivery every time.
  6. It really does not matter who is the president. The Constitution puts in place checks and balances that were designed to keep politicians and the federal government in its proper place and its hands off us, our children and our property. What really can make a difference is the people getting involved with their government at the local level. Did you know -- that your county sheriff, acting within the boundaries of his jurisdiction, has more power than the president of the United States and is subject to the will of the people? One of the biggest problems we are facing as a nation is the federalization of everything. Learn how to educate your sheriff. He can even kick out from his county the illegal agency that is the Internal Revenue Service. Yes, it's true. Watch the western states closely these days. There is a big movement, especially in Arizona and New Mexico in which they are kicking the feds off their state lands left and right and returning the lands into the hands of the people, where it belongs. The idea is growing and is incredibly effective and is in need of intelligent people to help it grow. Ron Paul is certainly a good guy and I would like to see him become president, but, quite frankly, folks, we don't really need him. We can take back our states and our property rights one county at a time. Educate your sheriff. The sheriffs I have met and spoke with love me. They had no idea their position was so powerful -- and many of them are acting accordingly. Get involved at the local level. That is the key to the whole thing. Washington D.C. is a goner, is a lost cause. If there is anyone who thinks they can make any difference by voting for the president -- I have some ocean front property here in Arizona I'd love to sell ya. Your county sheriff is your last chance to save your America, folks. That's no joke. Do your research and check out what I am saying and watch what we're doing here in the west and join in. We're actually doing it, not just talking about it, not chasing our tails. You can do the same. We can do it -- you can do it.
  7. Cool. I met Ron Paul back in 2007 and had a wonderful conversation with him. He was a great guy. And he's right, it is a philosophical problem -- which has rooted deeply into the American culture. Article 1 Section 8: "To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin"... Article 1 Section 10 No State shall enter into any Treaty, Alliance, or Confederation; grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal; coin Money; emit Bills of Credit; make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts; pass any Bill of Attainder, ex post facto Law, or Law impairing the Obligation of Contracts, or grant any Title of Nobility.
  8. Yup. Anyway, I like to buy my silver in one ounce rounds most of all. Anyone else out there love money?
  9. Nope, definitely is not the sole source of wealth I am surrounded by. I reread my post. I can see how you would come to that error. Perhaps you wouldn't have had I talked about other things... but my subject in this thread is my love of money -- not my love of pork bellies and orange juice. (Not that pork bellies and orange juice are bad ideas. They're not). Out of curiosity, what do you suppose will not "trickle out at a rate much faster than you anticipated in the pursuit of those goods required for survival."? Must find trade or everything will trickle out, eventually.
  10. Always have and always will. Ever since I was a child, I had always wanted to have a treasure chest, full of silver and gold and other treasure. I officially started to make that childhood dream come true when I was nineteen, by accident... I bought a bottle of soda from a machine and when the machine spit out my change, I noticed something very different about a dime that fell into my hand. The tone of the metal was quite different from other dimes and I guessed that that particular dime might have been made of real silver. I guessed right. Thus my love affair with silver and my passion for real money began. I bought a small safe and put my silver dime in it and started collecting. I've been doing it ever since. These days, we are seeing a lot of talk on how silver and gold are now too expensive and that one should start buying copper instead. Nonsense. Silver is still the best bang for the buck and at less than forty FRN per toz it is still very inexpensive to get into. I highly recommend you get into it -- and ASAP. If you don't do it now, at low, low price, you'll just end up doing it at one-hundred, two-hundred and even five-hundred -- and more -- per toz. And with spreads of up to six-hundred percent, it is going to be very difficult to make money with copper. Don't fall for the copper trap that is now springing up to catch the unaware and uneducated... ... Ok, so you still have your heart set on copper, the best way to get it is to start finding these abandoned houses and buildings we now have all over the United States. They are full of raw copper wires. For a little physical exertion you could potentially make yourself some money with very little or nothing to lose. Some folks used to do it at the constructions sites, scavenging for copper pipe and wire out of dumpsters and what-have-you, but these days construction sites are few and far between and the ones that do exist are much better guarded than construction sites used to be. Don't buy copper bullion. It is a waste of time. ******** Of course we are not a society of money any longer, but a society of debt and usury. We have irresponsibly abandoned our Constitution and our Constitutional money by placing the creation of our money supply into the hands of secretive, private interests who have long ago sold us down the road. "Those pieces of paper you have in your wallet -- which should have been gold..." -- Ayn Rand "Those pieces of paper you have in your wallet"... aren't paper and they aren't money. They are debt, fraud, usury. Yes, they should have been gold -- or in my case -- silver! HA! Buy some silver today! One ounce rounds are the best way to buy. Once our economy comes to its inevitable crash, those who own silver will be much, much better off than those who don't! Besides, owning precious metals is such an incredibly wonderful feeling! HA! Just do it!
  11. I just got my copy of the first "Atlas Shrugged" movie in the mail the other day. Great movie. Two thumbs up! Taylor Schilling and Grant Bowler are awesome!
  12. I'm wondering if anyone here has ever investigated the claim that the sign of the dollar is in fact what many people claim it to be, i.e., the letter, U with an S written over the top of it for United States. I've done a little research into this and I think that claim to be wrong. My case in point, here's a little piece written by Mark Brader that explores this question in a little more depth: http://alt-usage-english.org/excerpts/fxorigin.html The above article is typical of many other articles I have found that discuss the origin of the sign of the dollar.
  13. I am originally from the land of Minnesota, but now live in the land of Nevada, where I ride bikes, hike in the desert, read philosophy, write lots of stuff, run my little cafe, play my guitars, listen to music, play tug-of-war with my dogs -- and a whole bunch of other fun stuff. Glad to be here, looking forward to discussing things with people of like-mind. :)
