what are your views on the pros and cons of blanket DNA testing?

there's a topic in another section talking about "blanket DNA testing," but i was curious as to what the definition of blanket testing is, can someone lay down some insight?

i'm sorry i have a question off this subject but refering to it, can someone explain to me what "blanket testing" is? I'm trying to figure it out.
