  1. the latin is fuzzy, however, i am refreshing myself using a book and latin dictionary. i am working with a prof at school (who happened to get his BA, MA, and Ph.D from U of T) to start a latin reading group. it would basically be a group of students and professors who meet once again and interpret passages from the bible, ancient texts, and even common kids books done in latin. i hope it comes through, b/c i think it would be fun.
  2. I have had 1 year of Latin and i am currently trying to buff up my skills and learn a bit more. I am trying to set up a Latin reading group at my school along w/ one of the professors... I will eventually need to learn ancient greek, since my research interests include the fall of the roman empire and the start of the byzantine empire - particularly Justinian... I think it is best to sharpen up the Latin while working on my masters right now, and then learn greek when i start doctorate work.
  3. Alon, i see in your profile you go to U of T... i was just there in february for the North American Model United Nations conference... Toronto is a beautiful city and U of T seems great! I hear they have an excellent medieval history dept... i may consider going there for my doctorate work.
  4. my interest is the fall of the roman empire into the byzantine empire - particularly Justinians rule... i also enjoy learning about the thinkers of the enlightenment... voltaire in particular, and who i call the "second generation enlightenment thinker" thomas jefferson.
  5. no, it's my friends baby... that's the only pic i really have though...
  6. hmm. sounds interesting, i will have to pick that up for summer reading.
  7. liberal studies - that will be my M.A when i am done w/ this step, i hope to move on to Ph.D candidacy... i want to do my Ph.D studies in either medieval history or thought, perhaps a bit of both.
  8. hi there, i am new to this board... here is my introduction my name is amanda and i am 25 years old. i am a grad student in ohio. i am excited to have found this board and i hope to be a contributor as well as learn a bit
