  1. Hmmm, maybe because the fictional character Krishna never gave a speech applicable to reality?
  2. I think Dr. Peikoff may have a point through. This being his second term, he may advance the religious agenda. If he did go overboard on his first term, would he get elected again?
  3. Like to join me in my effort to spread Objectivism or free thought and Capitalism in general? What I do is print out a paper with thought provoking quotes and post them around the school. Check with your principle first if you can post them in the halls. If not, then hand out papers to students. I've gotten a lot of feedback. Students are actually beginning to talk about relevant topics now.
  4. The creators of South Park are extremely amoral when it comes to who there attacking so I honestly don't think they were attacking Ayn Rand. This is not some fan's defense though. But I'm bringing to everyone's attention that no one and I mean no one is out of Matt and Parker's radar. Everyone and then they'll show their true sides which is merely just some mixture with amoral ethics and libertarian politics.
  5. Call me immature, but I loved it. I wasn't so sure I wanted to waste my money on a full length movie played by Marionettes. I could never really watch more than two minutes of Thunderbird but the plot and ridiculous dialouge gripped me. Unfortunately, Team America is probably the biggest Pro-American movie you'll see or seen in a good two years. Unfortunant because it's a comedy movie based mainly on crass and vulgar. Basically the story is about a gang of do-gooders called Team America, who literally have a base within Mt. Rushmore I believe. They police the world fighting terrorist. On a new mission, they recruit a Broadway actor to become the Teams master of disguise. Throughout the movie they run into a triple threat. Three evils that have aligned themselves to destroy Team America and make every country a third world country. 1.Kim II 2. Islamic Terrorists 3. And Hollywood acts who go by the name of Films Actor Guild. And yes, as an acronym it's F.A.G. The political stance is obviously Libertarian. Beware though. The film is extremely vulgar. My movie theater took extra procaution to find any sneeks. They even checked my I.D and that doesn't happen very much. Other highlights would be Tim Robberts and Sean Penn, celebrity anti-war protestors pouring kerosine over the body of a Team America member while talking about bring peace to the world. A second would be a overeating Michael Moore as a suicide bomber who's branded as a "giant socialist weasel" and non of these comments are taken back or apologised for. But if you over look the typical South Park immaturity, you'll realize it's one of the most pro-American films out there today.
  6. I might abstain from voting. Either way I think I've lost. Shut my mouth and I sanction the ideals I hate. Open them and I sanction the ideals I hate. If Ayn Rand was Dominique on a bad day, I've been Dominique's spiritual twin for a good year. So I'm just going to fold my arms, abstain, and hope for the best while doing my best to spread my ideals which I'm actually doing quite fine with right now.
  7. Honest question How do you deal with these people? I've come across to many religionist, who after I explain my beliefs to them, shrug and tell me that life is worthless if it isn't platonic. Please somebody, gives the words! Just last night a friend, who is quite skeptical said something to the effect of "I mean...Is this it? Just this life? Nothing after we're dead? How can you be fine with that? Maybe you can but I can't." All I could do was shrug and say something to the effect of "Tough."
  8. BTW: After taking a good like at that site all I have to say is that I'm still in awe that you haven't been banned. It does a good job at being discret about being Theistic though.
  9. I believe the concept of God is degrading to human life. Everyone I’ve ever met who believes in God no matter what religion believes life is a temporary pain and that if a rat had a soul, man’s would be even lesser than the rodent. As for evolution, Objectivism hardly deals with it. What we know is that reality is absolute and that everything acts naturally. That’s all that’s necessary to live and prosper.
  10. Are you kidding? If I had the money I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
  11. I can’t say I’m fluent in Objectivism, I’ve read many articles from Rand and I’ve gotten the general idea, but not enough to defend it by the use of abstractions. I’m not worried enough, no one and I mean no one has been able to put a good argument against Objectivism for me to defend with blood and sweat. The truth is, most people don’t know about Objectivism and unfortunately, as simple as Objectivism is, it’s easily misunderstood and misrepresented. I’ve come across three people who’ve thought it was merely hedonism, I corrected them and no more conversation about it. I met a woman who was actually very obnoxious and I may say childish whenever she saw me reading Ayn Rand. A friend of mine, who’s interested in Rand once told me that he heard her speaking of me to another. Apparently she said I was fascinated by Objectivism and according to her, the philosophy is backwards. Later she spots me reading Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal and decides to confront me on Rand. She tells me that Objectivism is backwards. The expression on my face goes from being happy to amused and curious. She then “corrects” herself and says that it isn’t backwards but that Rand’s philosophy contradicts itself. I ask how. She couldn’t think up anything at the moment. She tells me that’ll she bring on later information to support her claim. It’s been a good month or two and I’m still waiting. So if you have any trouble with Randian naysayers, go buy yourself OPAR and the Ayn Rand Lexicon so you can know what Rand really said and point it out to these guys. I came across more people who still didn’t understand Rand’s philosophy yet made negative claims about it. All you need is superficial knowledge about Objectivism and your fine. BTW: Is the Sense of Life documentary worth the money?
  12. Thanks guys. I've decided to fully explain my argument step by step next time from what I believe metaphysically, man's place in world, and the connection between man, rationality, and ethics. I'll then make sure to point out the very mistakes their making.
  13. Recently I was asked that if there weren't a conciousness that created morality for man, then what would stop people from commiting crimes. I explained what morality was, how it derived from reality, etc, but they kept asking me what would stop the criminals (as in they stopped commiting crimes themselves) if they rejected rational reality. What they wanted is an answer that would have me either acknowledge the need for the existence of a god and throw away my previous argument or reject morality altogether. The conversation ended before I could put my input but the truth is, I don't have a good answer. Any suggestions?
  14. Whenever people give me that "well, its just his way of presenting his point of view" I remind them of Goebbels and his way of getting his point of view out. After that, they shut up and till this day after meeting around 30 something Moore Fans, they never mentioned F9/11 or Moore again.
  15. Wait. First you claim that Objectivists are religious fanatics, then you come to a board expecting a "rational" discussion. I don't care what you believe about Objectivism all I'm saying is that it was your choice to come and deal with us radical, closed minded Objectivist in the first place. It seems that you already have your mind made up. Show yourself the door then.
  16. I actually didn't like "The Ideas of Ayn Rand" nor have I found a book praising Ayn Rand as if she was God. I think a nice beginniners range of materials would include, of course, OPAR by Peikoff, Sense of Life: The Documentary, and maybe the Voice of Reason which are a collection of essays.
  17. Why is the thread titled Homo VS Hetero now?
  18. On the commentary, the director said it was a story of Divine Intervention.
  19. I believe one of the greatest myths of homosexual relationships is that there must be what some call "the butch and the bitch". Call it what you want but not only is it insulting but it's a claim that's generally made from people with absolutely no experience with open homosexuals nor open homosexuals in relationships of their own.
  20. Here's a bad one. I dug up an old High school book and as I browsed at the definitions, the definition of Antitrust laws is... -"Laws that encourage competition in the marketplace." Man....
  21. We'll, through High School, we weren't really taught Socialism was good but there was a lot of sympathy for Roosevelt. The schools really go at great lengths to push enviornmentalism now that I think about it. Not in Highschool but between 4th and 8th grade. Forget Marx. Roosevelt, Che Guevara, JFK, LBJ and Clinton are the good guys. But here's good news, no one I know is satisfied with public school either, 90% of the teens I've met in Highschool said they plan to send their kids to private schools.
  22. All I got from reading it was immoral punishment and the worship of your punishers for they supposely know better than you.
  23. Unconditional love. Ugh. Now I'll first admit that my parents are decent when it came to bringing the bacon and I respect them for that, I honestly do but I could never compromise when it came to my principles and them. First of all, their racist...well, "people who have been kicked by the man time and time again." Not a day goes by when after spending a couple of hours their talking about "Niggaz and white folks". Secondly their just plain pessimistic and tribalistic although my father fairs better. I remember speaking with my father about my homosexuality. He said he was disappointed only because he wanted grandchildren. I felt betrayed in some way. Who knows if I'm infertile for godsakes? I felt like I was born to be a breeding machine. Anything my mother deems wrong with my she points outside and asks what everyone else will think. "People will think your crazy! Do you even care?" Three days ago my mother pestered me again about my personality and my desire to bridge myself personally from my parents (or most of the family in general) and her highlights were... "There you go with that logic! Not everything is logical! Some things just is." "You read, that's great, your a smart boy and all but you got to think about what goes on in the streets." "Life requires compromise." *SIGH I get burnt out sometimes. Sometimes I feel like cursing at them.
