  1. What do you mean you voted already? where do all of you live? and if so many of you's live in NH or in Iowa or Wyoming, why did giuliani lose by so much?
  2. he didn't sign it because that's the way he works: "under promise and over deliver" that's the way he ran the city. he didn't promise so many tax cuts but look at his record! the most tax cut anyone ever dared make in nyc. so I trust him.
  3. Well, there. you see what ou get when you vote for someone with no experience. what was he before he was prez? a senator?
  4. What about a person you KNOW you'd not live without, and you have a choice either to die and save his/her life or live and let them die (later committing scuiside because you cannot live without) I think that letting them die is a sacrifice on your part because you are more worried about Them not being able to live without YOU. letting yourself get killed is less of a sacrifice. and to explain the posts above, if you had a choice to die or live in a communist country? I'd choose death anytime
  5. This Bloomberg guy is very interesting... would any of you vote for him if Huckebee wins the primaries and Bloomberg runs as a third party? he is an incredibaly good "diplomatic" mayor. you know, the type that is 'so nice' to everyone, and no one really hates him... he did raise property tax (after giuliani lowered it) but then gave home owners the tax back in tax returns... (not all of it, though) he is strickter with gun laws, and he is totally a dictator when it comes to smoking, trans-fat etc. ok, so whadaya say? he is still a great capitalist and all...
  6. there are many things I am truely sorry Ayn Rand didn't see. just for that, I hope there is an afterlife where she could see the world.......
  7. what's a "fraternity brother"? some kind of relligious thing? because I found this: ...Gene Hart, a fraternity brother, recalls a reunion dinner held at a restaurant in Manhattan around the time that Giuliani, then the U.S. attorney in New York, was prosecuting mob figures. Giuliani's bodyguards stood watch over a private room while the old fraternity brothers and their spouses dined. Hart's wife, Mary, found herself seated next to Giuliani and told him that she was a little nervous about being seated next to a man in need of protection. As Hart remembers, Giuliani answered casually that there was nothing to worry about: He received death threats all the time and, besides, if an attempt were made on his life, Mary would be okay. "Rudy said, 'If something happened, Mary, there would be two shots, both fatal, and I think I would probably fall straight forward and not on you,' " Hart recalls. ... eeeew
  8. the Brookly Meuseum of Art was a city funded CITY FUNDED thing. funded by us, the tax payers. So there is nothing wrong with not wanting to offend the city by protraying such disgusting art. AND he did not censor it: he simply wanted to pull funding. they still wanted to parade that art - they are welcomed to it. and he said he would protect their right to do it. but not with city money. and as for pornography, as a head of a family with little children, I, too, do not want my children bombarded with pornographic images. if someone wants to see that dirt, let them do it in their own place, not where my children walk around. there are many reasons why I like giuliani
  9. WHY did they add roosavelt???????????????????????????? gawd! that just shows you. if nyc had a sculpture of all its' mayors, I'd say put giuliani there. I hope they don't put dinkins or something. that woud be like putting roosavelt.
  10. I always saw her as Ivy Starnes, you know, from Starnesville, where 20th Century Motors used to be?
  11. I live in NYC and I have a gun. It's OK, even Bloomberg, with his MUCH strickter gun laws didn't completely take away our right to own a gun (like in DC where you're not allowed to have one at all) All Giuliani did was make it harder for criminals to buy a gun. before he enforced those gun laws, we never dreamed of buying a gun, but because he made those laws - we decided to get a lisence and buy a gun. so there you have it. regular citizens DO have guns in NYC.
  12. we should start a new thread with all the candidates for presidency......
  13. if it were a choice between Hillary and the pope and the pope believed in free market capitalism, I'd vote the pope. only because there IS a seperation of church and state, and the pope has little power to controle teh private lives of private people. OTOH, a socialist sociaty will completely destroy everyone's freedom. DEMOCRACY IS NOT FREEDOM ___ FREEDOM IS CAPITALISM.
  14. hey welcome! It's good that you are no longer a whining suffering sociolist But we would all be whining socialists if all we had was the media. thankfully, we also have Ayn Rand!
  15. ok guys! I love you *hugs* can you give me a puzzle to mull over? it won't take me only a day, it might take a month, but it will be fun.
  16. yup, me too. last night at the GOP debates immigration was a big issue. I was dissappointed with the way giuliani did not explain his veiwpoint - but I guess he couldn't do it in 60 seconds they gave. but I read his explanation of it in 1996, and I completely agree with it.
  17. Ho, ok, now I'll slide back to my little hole. BTW, Adrian, I really appreciate your lesson. I read it a few times, and can see how much you enjoy the subject. there is a rectangle in existence ( I wish i remembered which measurement it was) that when it's whole it has one area and when dissected by a diagnal making two triangles, it loses a square. one day I'll find it for you. also, speaking of different bases, how can you tell if a base 2 number (1, 10, 11, 100 etc.) is divisible by 3 in base 10 witout first changing the number into base ten?I guess all the math teachers in my son's school are stupid, though. because it didn't take long for you guys to solve it.
  18. YES!!!! you got it you got it!!! you deserve a prize! lol NOW do you guys see how easy it is for a 9 year old to see it especially if he has graph paper at his disposal? I am so happy you got it!! NO ONE else was able to figure it out!! and I was going crazy keeping it to myself!! because when I figured it out (And I, like a 9 year-old, I have no education, really) I wanted everyone else to do the same.
  19. Adrian, there is an answer much more visual and easier for a child to find, no one on this forum has yet reached that conclusion. no child can understand calculus, so there is a very simple reason that this is the only 2 rectangles that have area=perimiter. no one was able to answer that - not even math teachers. can any of you see it? I've seen it, and am hoping my son will. (I will not give the answer here because I want those of you who are lovers of math or geomitry to try and figure it out on your own)
  20. I was about to respond to Adrian (who is a smart, well educated person) and just couldn't help to respond first to this one. it's not true what you say about not playing math games with my son. I am not giving him false information. I am simply giving him puzzles that he might enjoy (I know I enjoy them) and none of you answered the question WHY NO OTHER RECTANGLE HAS area = to perimiter other than 4,4 and 3,6? so no matter how uneducated I am, I'm still smart enough to answer this question
  21. oh, shit! I am so embarrassed, I would hide in a burning building! I must have been drunk last night, because what I did was a squared TIMES b squared equals c squared! OMG I am such an idiot! totally disregard what I wrote before! Oh, I wish I could delete this post! (the shame, the shame!)
  22. that's interesting. I am so distressed by this though. because .33333333333333333333333333 is such an impercise number, but on the other hand, it's totally ligitimate when it's divided in thirds..... (I have a head-ache now) ok, I like Protagoras (how do you know all this btw?) like the hypotenuse of a triangle?
