Do you have a bed in your room? Whenever I do crunches (or used to...) I wedged my feet under the bed. You just gotta be careful that you actually do situps instead of just pullin' yourself up using your feet and the bed. Haha. Or you could have your roomie hold yer feetsies down. Okay, most morally repulsive is Slug, who 'initiated force.' Second morally repulsive is Abigail for laughing at the sight of that initiated force. As for the others, it's more difficult to rank. Sinbad, to me, is not up with Slug and Abigail. Abigail asked him for a service and he named a price. Abby paid the price and he gave her the service in return. Gregory is not morally repulsive. He has standards, Abby doesn't conform to those, so away with Abby. As for Ivan, the story doesn't state that he doesn't make a judgment, it just says he doesn't want to get involved. I wouldn't get involved in this stupid mess either, since it wouldn't concern me. He is not morally repulsive.

I agree that they're not the same, but I think there are certain situations where it would be okay to write the way you speak. I don't think that speaking/writing with a certain dialect means that you can't engage philosophical issues seriously. In day-to-day philosophical conversations (not in message board debates), that's how it goes. I mean, I understand where you're coming from, but at the same time I can't help but find it a bit bland/boring. I really enjoy learning about different peoples' personalities, and that includes how they speak, their mannerisms, etc. It's difficult to pick up on that kind of thing on a forum, or even in messenger, so I enjoy when people try to bring it to life as best they can. (Then again, many people speak in a very proper/formal way, and I can definitely appreciate that, too). I'm torn. Intellectualammo, I am with you on the baby talk thing 100% (even though for some reason I baby-talk my dog *cringe*). However, I've not really seen any evidence that a child who is spoken to in such a manner would grow up to speak like a 'tard themselves. Hah. Hmm. I was talked to like that for sure and I think I speak (or have the ability to speak, when I choose to) in a 'proper'/'formal' way.

Haven't you ever heard someone talk like that in real life? It's a dialect, not destruction of the English language. I understand you maybe wouldn't wanna write your term paper on knitting with that dialect, but some folks talk like that in real life and I think it jazzes up the board to hear people attempt to communicate how they really speak. Gives a better feel for that person's...personality. Hah. Much better than um...y'know...the kind of stuff you find in Rules and Regulations and Declarations 'n' whatnot. "I hereby set my hand and affix my seal..." Heehee.

Girl, I wouldn't really ask for dating advice from here. Whoever it was that recommended you talk to him...they have the right idea. I'm not really sure what exactly the problem is, you'd have to give more detail...but I think you can probably make decisions for yourself. ^I can't really argue with that, I suppose. It does make a comedy/comedian much funnier when one can relate to them, but I think that there is a level of that even in the most absurd Will Ferrell movies. Anyhow, I just saw Wedding Crashers, and I think that it should be added to the list for sure. It was WAY better than I expected and it turned out to be a romantic movie as well. Absolutely hilarious and touching, which is rare (and hey, Will Ferrell makes an appearance).

THAT is the funniest movie you've seen since Office Space? That movie can't even compare to Office Space. It was an OK movie, but not as funny as what I would have expected from Steve Carell. Have you seen Anchorman?

Americo, I absolutely loved All the Pretty Horses, but I didn't consider it primarily a romantic movie, rather a movie about self discovery. I've been meaning to check out that book.

It’s the end of Sophomore year of high school and I’m choosing my classes for Junior year. I notice “Drafting Tech” and read the description. Hmm…kinda conjures up thoughts of The Fountainhead…what the hell, I’ll try it. Now it’s Junior year and I’m chillin’ in my Drafting class, just me and my computer and my AutoCAD. What the hell is this!? How strange it is having to type in all these commands…but everything just looks so perfect and I’m flyin’ through it. Perfect lines, perfect circles, perfect hatch lines. PERFECT! I’ve never been able to focus so easily and I’ve never been able to relax, but here I am…relaxed AND focused, miraculously! I think I’ll move on to a higher level class next year…if only I’d started this earlier. Ah, now it’s Senior year. My last, god dammit! I’m in my Architecture 1 class and we’re more independent than ever. I’m sailing through this. Foundation plan? Pssht! Done! Easy A. Semester 2 hits, and so does “Senioritis.” Scrap that, it’s just me being a dumbass. I sit in class and space out, unable to focus on ANYTHING but what’s in my head. I’ve never been one who could focus easily, but this is the worst it’s been. I just don’t wanna come out of my head. Ain’t everything hopeless? Of course…F after F after F. Now I gotta re-evaluate my life. Great! *rolls eyes* -------------------------------- That is up until about a month before the end of the school year. Around this time, I got a lecture from one of my favorite teachers. He told me something that is just plain common sense, but it sparked something inside: “Think about what you’re passionate about, what you love to do, then do it. Make a plan A, and if that one doesn’t work out, you can make a new one. Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t be afraid if you lose interest. There’s always something else out there.” Of course! So…I shape my ass up and do all my work on time, pass all my classes. I apply, though a tad bit late, to a college so that I can major in Architecture. Why architecture? Why, because that’s what I’m passionate about. I am comfortable and focused whilst drawing my plans…and I’ve never had that feeling doing anything else. I feel independent and free when it’s just me and my AutoCAD. I can tune out all the bullshit and work on my dream houses. I love the feeling I get when I draw the exterior light the way I envisioned it or plan out my kitchen perfectly. I can make the dream house I imagined when I was a youngster come to life. There it is, right on the screen. Now I can show it to you and now you will understand. If only I could do that with all of my other ideals.
