  1. I think that State secession should be a real possibility. Obama is fast tracking this Republic into oblivion.
  2. You Know You're An Alcoholic When... * Your doctor finds traces of blood in your alcohol stream. * The back of your head keeps getting hit by the toilet seat. * The parking lot seems to have moved while you were in the bar * When you go to donate blood and they ask what proof? * You think the Four Basic Food Groups are Caffeine, Nicotine, Alcohol, and Women. * You have a "happy hour" at home * When you are sober, people ask you what's wrong? * You spend all night making a board game called Alcohol Land * Although you drove home the other night you can't remember how you got home or where you parked your car * Hi ocifer. I'm not under the affluence of incohol. * Your favorite drink is ethanol. * Why does everybody think I have a prinking droblem?! - I don't have a prinking droblem! * I don't have a drinking prob..pleb..prub.. *hic* Pash me another, tarbender. * You can spend a whole night holding up walls to prevent their (your) collapse. * You instinctively know where the alcohol is in a store you've never been in before * Clubs raise their drink prices because you haven't attended in a while * You think beer and ramen make a good breakfast (source:alcohol411)
  3. Jake Ellison, you are making the assumption that anyone who uses an opiate is an addict. You've bought the old line irrational reasoning that the far left and christian right have foisted on the public since their racist propaganda from the early 20th century. Certainly there a many addicts hose lives are ruined by opiates, and there are 10 times as many with alcohol. Also, alcohol impairs your motor judgments and can exacerbate ones emotions to where one often times can become aggressive, manic, melancholy, etc. I have yet to see those effects on opiate users. If you want to talk about liver damage you may want to research alcohol a little more deeply. "Addiction" as such is soley predicated on an individuals behaviour and pre-disposition. Just because of stigma's attached to certain drugs doesn't mean that they are less evil than legal ones.
  4. I've had both alcohol and opiates, and let me tell you; alcohol does much more to retard your senses and aggravate your emotions than opiates ever could (i'm speaking in moderation for both).
  5. prosperity, it's not the alcohol in wine that is good for you, but rather a chemical called resveratrol (which can be bought otc without the alcohol): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resveratrol
  6. Like I've posted elsewhere, of all the drugs one can take to relax (this includes caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco) I prefer opiates. Under the influence of an opiate one can relax quite nicely without the fuzziness, emotional roller coaster, or poor motor judgement that occurs with alcohol ingestion. Obviously, any drug taken can be dangerous (that includes caffeine!) With opiates you can become very relaxed and enjoy yourself without succumbing to the brain fry and all the clumsy stupidness that usually accompanies alcohol inebriation. I find it odd how, for many Oists, the drug of choice is alcohol, like it's the only one christened by objectivism. If anything, alcohol would seem to me to be the last drug of choice if one is wishing to relax.
  7. I prefer opiates to relax. In fact, I think opiates are a much safer way to relax, relatively speaking, without all the added negatives that come with alcohol consumption. Alcohol just doesn't do it for me, the buzz isn't that great.-what's more, I am able to keep my focus while on an opiate buzz, whereas alcohol can make you plain stupid, over emotional, and way uncoordinated.
  8. TheEgoist, Miles White, and YES, thank you for the insult, now do you have anything of value to contribute to the topic?-other than ridiculing my didactic mistake?
  9. http://howobamagotelected.com/ Watching these clips are very VERY disturbing, yet not surprising at all. They show in a microcosm the level of intellectual decay that predominates America.
  10. Obama had better grow some balls when it comes to dealing with Russia.
  11. http://pjtv.com/ has got to be the best alternative commentary/news site on the net. Very refreshing to hear idea's that matter concerning current events.
  12. Curious, what everyone here would rate as the current Seven Wonders of the World today? I would list them (in no particular order): 1)Burj Dubai Tower 2)Three Gorges Dam 3)Akashi Kaikyō Bridge 4)Saturn V rocket 5)Antonov An-225 aircraft 6)Knock Nevis supertanker 7)Walt Disney World theme park.
  13. I find Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series, other than the first book, boring and unimaginative. For crying out loud he has characters named Bruce!
  14. Keeley Hazell is a literal goddess of beauty. http://cache.gizmodo.com/assets/resources/...ley-Hazell2.jpg http://gb.cri.cn/mmsource/images/2006/07/14/sw060714039.jpg
  15. Ayn Rand must be rolling over in her grave right about now. I have yet to read anything she said about homosexuality that supported it. Certainly she defending mans right to pursue his own life, but here is the fact of how she regarded homosexuality. This is not something that Objectivists can nit-pick if one is to follow her philosophy. I happen to think she is correct. Here is what she said: Ford Hall Forum at Northeastern University 1968 lecture, she said, "I do not approve of such practices or regard them as necessarily moral, but it is improper for the law to interfere with a relationship between consenting adults."[2] In 1971, Rand reiterated this position, then explained that homosexuality "involves psychological flaws, corruptions, errors, or unfortunate premises", concluding that homosexuality "is immoral, and more than that; if you want my really sincere opinion, it's disgusting."[3]
  16. There are no such things as 'gay rights', there is only individual rights.
  17. Here's a thoughtful philosophical answer to the Democrat's victory in the Executive, House, and Senate: WE'RE F*CKED!
  18. Voted for McCain, not because I like him, but because Obama is evil personified. Voted against all my state ballot measures. I live in Montana Voted for Roy Brown Republican for Governor, and voted Constitution Party where there was no Republican candidate. Anyway one looks at it, the sad fact about this election year can be summed up this way: WE'RE SCREWED '08.
  19. Since every American is "damned if we do, damned if we don't" at the polls this year, my advice would be to vote for the candidate with the best idea's most friendly with liberty. Sure, your guy may lose, but so what?-we've already lost when McCain or Obama get elected. In a way, voting 3rd party is a way to both vote and abstain from voting at the same time. I'm voting for Barr. Will he win?-not likely, but so what. My vote, at least, moves the political focus more to where it needs to be, which I hope in turn will affect the ideaology of the two ruling parties. If everyone always votes the status quo out of fear or compromise then we get nothing but stuck in the damned mess we're all trying to get out of, progress is retarded because then the parties think that as voters we are sanctioning their platform. PS.....And let's not forget that there are also local and state elections, too, as well as bond issues, etc to vote on!
  20. Other than 'Wizard's First Rule', which I liked immensely, I find TG's 'Sword of Truth' series droll, unimaginative, and way too long. LOTR, Ivanhoe, The Iliad, The Odyssey, and Chronicles of Prydain are much better works along the same lines of fantasy/fiction.
  21. Another pet peeve I have with wind power is having to look at those damn things spinning all the time. Not only an eye sore and a distraction, but a headache too.
  22. I highly respect and support what these guys are doing. http://www.terrorfreeoil.com/companies.php
  23. I have recently found this awesome new reality show called "Black Gold". http://www.trutv.com/shows/black_gold/index.html Maybe it can help inspire people to get the government out of regulating and hyper-controlling the domestic oil industry. (I too, signed the drill now petition)
  24. Bob Barr, on his own website, admits to wanting to "lead the way" on diplomacy with Iran.
  25. I am voting McCain. Barack Obama is an extreme racist-religious-Marxist flip flopping nut, from hell. However, when I cast my vote in November I won't be so much voting "for" McCain as I will be voting AGAINST Obama.
