I have recently discovered the joy of every sensation in life, and pursue hobbies and passions that help me feel invigorated, wise and strong: Reading, writing, snowboarding, rafting, running, gardening, cooking, yoga, pilates, dancing painting, and researching legal theory-- yes, I actually dink around with writing my own revised version of the Constitution at least three times a week. When I need to "tune out" and relax I tend to play my Nintendo DS Brain Academy or pull out some logic puzzles.

  • Biography/Intro
I am relatively new to objectivism and will apologize now for what is bound to seem like my ignorance on some issues. I have read all of Rand's fiction and most of her non-fiction and feel comfortable discussing her philosophy but I am also seeking to gain more wisdom from some who are perhaps more well-versed. My career demands an adherance to reason, and while mistakes I have made in my life have contradicted reason at times I am glad to have found it at last and live by it now. I am looking forward to actively using my cognition amongst like-minded people to continue to help me grow as a person.

About Me

I am a simple person with large ambitions that I work daily to achieve. I wake up every day knowing that that day offers me the chance to learn more: more about myself, about others, and about the world. Some days I learn from my mistakes, other days I learn from my triumphs. But I love the act of learning all the same, whatever its source may be. To know that I have grown a little more in my understanding of my potential in the world is the most satisfying sensation I can think of. Then again, maybe that's just little 4'11" me just loving the thought of growing in anything since I stopped growing vertically when I was all of 12 years old!

I am a staunch defender of individual rights and liberty - and the difference between the two (thank you, John Adams!). I love that every moment of my life and all of the decisions I have made, for better and for worse, have brought me here to this moment. This moment is where my greatest potential lies. Every moment is an opportunity. My decisions have led and will continue to lead me to acquire all the knowledge I will need to achieve my goals. Making the decision to be a Montessori teacher gave me a proufond understanding of children that will help me become a great mother someday. My decisions led me to take the risk of leaving that career to find another while I make the financial preparations to attend law school. My decisions brought me to an interview with my current employer who hired me on the spot with absolutely no experience because he saw in me what I love most about myself: my desire to learn (that, and he liked my defense of capitalism in my interview). My decisions have let me embrace every moment of my life and look forward to every moment to come. I look forward to a law career where I can defend property rights and do my best to stiffle all the frivolous lawsuits that are chipping away at the integrity of our legal system. All of my decisions have been great because they have made me who I am, flaws and all. I like my flaws because they remind me daily that there is always room to grow.

Now for some entertaining quirks:

  • I have a cat named Franklin who recently lost a third of his tail.
  • I wear my glasses more than I need to because I like how I look in them.
  • I am nearly always humming a tune to myself.
  • I LOVE Indian food (esp Sweet potato masala, a recent discovery).
  • I feel most beautiful when I am dancing.
  • I secretly desire to be a hybrid creature that is 1/2 Martha Stewart and 1/2 Ayn Rand.
  • If I could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, I would choose the American Founding Fathers, and maybe Socrates, too, just for squeaks and giggles.
  • I twist my hair when I am bored.
  • I pick at scabs when I am anxious.
  • I daydream about freedom.
  • I always cook from scratch and love experimenting with new flavor combinations.
  • I LOVE hosting dinner parties w/ friends. Some of my best dishes: spicy shrimp cakes with papaya lime sauce, zucchini lasagna, cheddar-stuffed poblano burgers (my most requsted dish!), sage-roasted pumpkin , goat cheese ravioli, lobster corn chowder, raspberry-stuffed french toast, dark chocolate-cherry brownies, truffled potatoes w/ mascarpone, triple chocolate-chip cookies, roasted salmon with white wine sauce, and blue cheese popcorn... to name a few.
  • I think tempurpedic beds are one of the greatest human inventions, ever!
  • I like cream in my tea.
  • I love painting with oils, but hate how long they take to dry, so I tend to use acrylics.
  • I have a hot pink snowboard.
  • And I am addicted to Logic puzzles.
