  1. I agree with Anthem. This sounds like far-right wing pre-election propoganda. Al Queda has been so weakened that they wouldn't be able to make it past Liberia much less all the way to the U.S. Isreal will take out Iran before they ever get the chance to do anything regardless of Obama's existence.
  2. There is a YouTube video you can lookup that exposes how it's done. (They have never revealed it themselves). I'll just say it has to do with prop placements
  3. Wow Zip, If you ever posted a link to a Canadian Civics Literacy Test - I would fail for sure!
  4. Penn is great. I saw their show in Vegas last month and I was briefly talking to Penn after the show (yes, they do that) and I talked to him about Rand. (I gave him an oo.net shout-out) Basically he boiled it down to "Atlas Shrugged—what more is there to say?" He's enormous too lol.
  5. This just made me laugh out loud: That's a "different side"? What is the "regular side"?
  6. Would that constitute a TILF? (Tree I'd like to...)
  7. There is nothing intrinsically altrusitic or sacrificial about having children. If raising children is a value to you - then it's selfish to raise children.
  8. If someone can tell me where that feature is, I will. And you'll be next. Oh so you DO know what citing references means. Now mind going back and doing that to the dozens of other threads you evade on? EDIT: I figured out how to put people on ignore. For those wondering, click on the users profile, then under the "Options" dropdown under their photo, click on "Ignore User". Ahh... the world already seems brighter! PEACE OUT Mammon & Kori!
  9. Art is a recreation of reality via an artist's philosphical value-judgements. Except for things like ice sculptures or those things they make on Food Network Challenge, I don't think the definition can apply.
  10. Very classy Mammon (sarcasm). Mind giving us a quote of CF stating that he liked Ann Coulter? I would be interested in seeing what he said. [crickets chirping]
  11. .... So you have descended to using Al-Jazeera sources to support your pro-Obama arguments now? What's next?
  12. My best friend is in school to be an actuary. He is just a math major but you would want to include statistics from what I understand. Some schools (like the Uof Utah) actually offer "Actuarial Math" courses. If you know where you are thinking about going to school, check out their course catalog on their website and see if they offer actuarial math classes.
  13. This thread is quickly descending into absurdity. Faith and axioms, BY DEFINITION are opposites. Case closed.
  14. Yes! It was! Ten point on knowing that
  15. Ok, first question. What works have you read of Rand's? That will give a better indication of where to start. Also I think your definition of "faith" is incorrect. "Faith" means accepting a truth without evidence. I have plenty of evidence that my computer, keyboard, ISP and this forum all work very reliably. God however, is the most unreliable concept ever invented.
  16. I have seriously thought about changing my last name (wro-blew-ski - sure it seems easy when I write it like that, but nobody EVER understands the "w") for several reasons. For starters, I have never NOT had to spell it or pronounce it when having to give it over the phone or at an appointment, etc. It's unreadable, unpronounceable, and unspellable to the average person, and it becomes anonying to always do so. Also, I am not all too fond of the idea of carrying on my father's name given my relationship with the man throughout my life. It's bad enough I have to have my middle name be the same as his first name.
  17. I went all the way up to question 26 and got bored with it and didn't finish it lol
  18. geekusa, since you have only read Rand's fiction so far, you may want to next read her non-fiction. In her book, The Romantic Manifesto, she explains that literature, as an artform, has a goal to be idealized recreations of reality based on the author's value-judgements. Perhaps that is what you are refering to when you used the word "ideal". In the context of Atlas Shrugged and The Fountainhead being works of art, yes their heros are idealized representations of Rand's philosophy. However, that doesn't mean the philosphy itself is an "ideal".
  19. When you refuse to accept the validity of one of Objectivism's axioms, you aren't going to get very far with other Objectivsts.
  20. I think they are Gabriel's Horns calling us to The Lord's glory.
  21. Are you sure about that? Are you sure of that? I think "preconceived notions' mean sausages with creme Are you sure about that? I think his analysis is that you are Santa Claus Are you sure? ROLL CALL!!!! I say it's banning time. (Oh, and I am sure of that)
