  1. What about a quote? A is Eh ? - Al Gore I love the line in The Fountainhead: "I don't think about him", but people may misunderstand....
  2. Shocking as it may seem, many Objectivists have affairs the difference is in that it's out.
  3. She was after all a great admirer of Aquinas, so she certainly would have questioned the idea.
  4. Exactly what I thought. The music is bad, loud and I'd never buy it; but in that environment with strobes, spray jets and very tasty women it served a purpose and was excellent. I noticed the people who try to fake it with drink & drugs and that I didn't need either. That whole night felt clean, rational and that I was actually doing something i.e something I'd earned as opposed to just killing time like the fakers. I'm absolutely convinced it is the rational, moral people who avoid these environments who are capable of having the best time there. Although, with higher standards, such a person would need a place on this level. The club was called Space. http://www.space-ibiza.es/en/#/disco/ Click on 'the club' to check out inside. I'm going to re-read Branden's 'The psychology of Enjoyment'. I need to understand more...
  5. I've just returned from Ibiza and I've changed my mind about dancing. I thought it could only offer a primitive level of enjoyment and avoided it preferring just to talk when out. We tried one of the famous 'super-clubs' and just thought I'd 'av-a-go'. I found that when with with the same people afterwards we'd moved forward more than about 15 minutes of talking as a consequence of just enjoying dancing around like an idiot. What are your thoughts about dance and it's purpose in social contexts?
  6. Quotes and "high-level" concepts you've read have served you as a presentation to these ideas. If you agree with the fundamental tenets, then go and get systematic instruction either through the Objectivist Academic Centre or privately. As you progress, your contradictions will unearth and you can choose to deal with them when they do.
  7. Such introspective mensuration would allow anything to be profitable, then. The man who puts 10k into his business, and can only get 10k back, will surely have profited from the experience. Wouldn't this make the venture worthwile?

    OAC Exam

Get my results later today! It's a "win win" for me either way. I either get in, or realise I'm lacking and need to understand more. Please post your results here if you've applied this year!
  9. I'll add to this that search does work for me, but the results are so poor it isn't worth trying it.
  10. So, who is John Galt then ???
  11. It was a projective test (as opposed to an objective one ) I believe the particulars were developed by the team here.
  12. The profile results split into a positive and negative trait, the goal is to find the fundamental psychological premise (reaction) to a normal daily situation. They measured heart rate and brain heat and something else ? My answer determines the next question the supervisor asks and then works down in this fashion for as long as it takes (20 minutes for some, 2 hours for others) to find the most salient characteristic. They put you into one of 7 types that 98.8% of people fall into. Mine was an extremely rare one Sean-Joseph Keogh Projective Test Result- =Schadenfreude Type: Undefined N/A Occurance: 3 in 100,000 (0.003%) [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] The advisor seemed quite excited. Probably because she might be talking to a potential serial-killer.... She said it's not as extreme as it sounds. I asked if it's dangerous, she said absolutely not, but more sensitive people will pick up on it and find me very intimidating. I really don't know what to make of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schadenfreude
  13. It's perfectly fine to watch a stripper. Agree with Peikoff's terms though: she would have to have a colossal body and nothing less. It would also be in admirable company. I'd like to go one day, I'm just waiting for a recommendation....
  14. Ha! He's only there to make up the numbers.. If the list was nothing but Arabic name's they'd be worried their measure to stop incitement of hatred would actually incite hatred. Roll on graduation.....
  15. I did say right to property as a tenet that's not the issue. Is it ok to let someone spray a toxic gas because the landlord allows it ?
  16. On the one hand the right to property as a tenet but on the other....If it's illegal to walk into a pub with a cannister spurting toxic gas, then shouldn't it be illegal to smoke indoors for the same reason. Second-hand smoke like toxic gas is a scientifically-demonstrable killer and to use it indoors in public, infringes upon the rights of even other smokers.
  17. Raiders are getting a lot of heat on this draft, the 2nd round choice is a stopwatch pick but I like Heyward-Bey.... He was the only one who played in a pro-style offence, so he has less of a learning curve and this is probably why his numbers weren't as high. He was also the fastest and one of the quickest. Cable guy said he runs the best routes of any receiver in that top 4. I guess we'll see...

    OAC Exam

Just finished the entrance exam! Find out June 1st. Wow, it's one thing to think you've got it down in your mind, but being posed with a question and having to write the answer is another deal entirely. Hopefully they won't be able to ignore my IQ score which I sent, I was surprised they asked for this actually but as usual, that piece of paper is probably the thing that'll save me. It was the fastest 90 minutes I've had in front of a computer, if I don't get in it's because I didn't write enough. The words.... ...just.... wouldn't.... ... flow. I've newfound respect for DavidOdden who articulates fine points so well on paper (screen). Good work playa!
  20. Anybody who is interested in selling or renting this course out, let me know!
  21. I'm malcontent concerning England myself but that's a bit strong She said no one gave her a chance to sing, and it's "a shame" that she's a virgin at 47 . More than likely she never pursued the right course of action for either end. There's no easier way to the top than through a Simon Cowell program so her 'struggle' is over now. All in all, through the medium of broad appraisal, a great singer gets a great reaction. I'm holding the heroics though....
  22. Ha! perhaps they're just kids but replies of "we know socialism is bad, duh" in one sentence and "we love Obama" in the other are quite amusing.
  23. Damn... What happened to Nic Cage ? He's my favourite actor, but he's made some bad decisions recently.
