  1. k-mac -> Yes I am familiar with Rand's work. Greebo - I don't object to people trying to change their body parts nor do I see this as immoral. My issue is with false categorization and accepting lies as truths. That is immoral to me. Regardless, thanx 4 d link. Azelma - No, something being socially acceptable is not the same as it being morally right or wrong.
  2. I just returned from having dinner with some friends. A discussion came up about trans-gendered people etc. Apparently my associates thought it was ok for people to be whatever they believed themselves to be...that it was unfair for men to not be able to call themselves women and vice versa regardless of whether they had a sex change. In other words I could wake up tomorrow and if I felt like I was a man society should accept me as one. Mankind was cruel for not doing so. It was all about what you felt on the inside regardless of what you had/didn't have. They kept confusing biology and gender roles and didn't seem to be able to put together a logical argument In their view, the world could easily be flat if someone decided but when I mentioned this fact I was the-bad-one-that-was-not-getting-it. What exactly I was suppose to be 'getting' they couldn't really explain. After setting aside our differences, we became 'happy friends' again. I said goodbye to everyone, traveled home and that sinking feeling in my stomach was still there when I walked through the door... So I joined this site. I am not an objectivist but I am tired and weary. Hello.
