  1. The older I get, the better I see it. Seriously, you can't sue the government for it's actions and can't sue a bigger company, because lawyer costs a damn lot. But shouldn't the lawyers be free? It is a part of the court, right? I find myself having back deformations, due to uncomfortable public school seats, bad vision, due to public schools lightning - classrooms are often too dark. What private school would look so blindly to it's students? And, the private schools in Lithuania is damn expensive. And the company(private) that looks after our public-used areas can do whatever it wants - even directly stealing money we should have access to. We can't even know how much that money really is. I guess it's time to save money for a ticket to O'town, if one happens to exist in the future...
  2. I think I might sail to Karlscrone for this debate. And I want to make a nasty surprise for some Global Warming freaks out there. I received some information from my teacher: tabloid documents filled with thoughts and feelings - not clean facts. And A good arseanal of facts should help me. I just saw that graph on www.climate-skeptic.com indicating amounts of oil produced and quality of rock music. In fact, those two figures look so similar, but do they show any serious data?
  3. But what if some disease or illness that costs a lot strikes you and you don't have the money? That's the bad part of healthcare not run by the government.
  4. There should be some T-Shirts with Objectivist pickup lines, like "Wanna share some values?"
  5. I should add lack of culture and alcoholism in huge numbers to the list. That might have happened because people are so needy of Governments guidance, it makes me sad. That's one example of alcoholism common in Lithuania: http://Drunk Lithuanian, where video's comments are filled with Russian swear words.://http://Drunk Lithuanian, where vide...an swear words. And There's going to be an election for our parliament soon. Less than 46 percent of the people will vote, because there ain't what to vote for. Althought there is this new party this year, "Party of Nation's ressurection" that contains of some crappy pop stars who are probably going to entertain Lithuanian people with stupid actions if they get enough seats.
  6. I agree with Kevin about you. If I wanted to act like a propagandist preacher Al Gore is I wouldn't need the help of anybody. Confusion is not what Objectivist should make, is it?
  7. Thanks everybody Yes Thales, I am at eleventh grade right now. As far as I know about the project, it is funded by Sweden government. And that explains a lot about it. Anyway, I will try my best at it.
  8. My physics teacher asked me if I would like to participate in a project about Global Warming. Three schools is said to participate - my school, one from Kaliningrad and one in Sweden. It somehow comes that I might be the only one to call it more or less a political fraud(thanks to the sources listed in Objectivism Wiki) and it is the first time I participate in something like this. So, I would like some help from the fellow Objectivists in this forum. My teacher gave me a copy of 'Inconvenient Truth' as proof of Global Warming. Well that's a joke... The help would include: 1.Any websites that disagree with Al Gore's statements - the more known and the more scientific the better(I feel uncomfortable with data what's like from some rumors). 2.Ways how to express my opinion without sparking big tensions( I find myself very bad at this one). 3.And any suggestions or questions you would find yourself interested in.
  9. Culture of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia are actually very different. Lithuania has richer, more heroic history. Lithuania accepted christianity only at the end of fourteen century, and it was a powerful country for about 500 years, while Estonia and Latvia were conquered by German knights very fast. Estonian language is more like Finnish and Hungarian than Baltic languages(Lithuanian and Latvian). Not to mention what Lithuanian language is most archaic of them all.
  10. Estonia might be just like Lithuania, but Estonia didn't had a corrupted president. I forgot to mention huge numbers of emigrants, especially to England And Ireland. By the way, what's your theory?
  11. I want to improve my political understanding as well as my English, so I started this thread. Everyone is welcome to discuss. I will write some problems Lithuanians have then walking the path of free society: 1. Nostalgy of communistic paradise. One third of Lithuanians look at Soviet times with nostalgy, while we were the first ones to fight against Soviet Russia. By the way, communist party is forbidden in our country, but products like Soviet sausages do exists. It is mainly due the fact of social warrantees they had during that time and Lithuania used to be the face of Soviet Union and now it is said to be the butt of European Union. At least before Romania And Bulgaria joined it. 2. Untrust of government. Only 46 percent of people voted for parliament elections last year. Nobody believes in party's promises. 3. Some stupidity in laws: you can't even build a wind power plant more powerful than 250 kW! 4. Waste of money made by the government - too big wages and too many institutions, anyone? 5. Shadow of economic crisis due to increasing oil; power and gas prices. Due to that, Lithuanians now consume 20 percent less goods and services than the last year. 6. Selling and re-selling of one of our bigest company: "Mažeikių Nafta"(Oil Refinery). 7. Shutdown of Ignalina's Nuclear Plant in 2012 we promised for European Union. Ignalina's Power plant produces 75 percent of power consumed in Lithuania. And that power is very cheap, but it is Generation One reactor, like the one that was in Chernobyl. While the clock is ticking, the new Power Plant is not rising yet and we have no connections with western power lines. 8. Threat of Russia and it's resource monopoly. 9. Thinking that the government must do everything for it's people. 10. Corruption scandals from time to time. For now, that's all. I would like to spark some discussion from my statements.
  12. Because in his childhood, Kant was used to being dressed like a girl and called Florence by his own parents. (joke)
  13. Yet another Communist joke: Chrusciov is flying throught corn fields in an airplane and says to a pilot "Throw out 5 Ruble, woman who finds it will be happy." The pilot, thought unwillingly, throws out the paper. Ten minutes after that, Chrusciov asks to throw 10 Rubley. Pilot comments "If I would throw YOU out, whole world will be happy." Joke about Christianity: Pope dies and wants to enter heaven. St. (who cares who?) asks: "Who are you?" "I am the Pope." "Who?" "I am God's representative on Earth", cries Pope. "God has his representatives? I will ask Jesus about this, he has been there." Jesus spends a few minutes with the Pope and comes back to St. (who cares who?) and explains: "Do you remember that bunch of stupid fishermen I collected 2000 years ago? It's still working!
  14. In Lithuanian, "to earn money" is a difficult phrase to say. "To earn" might be translated to "Nusipelnyti", that might also mean to put a lot of effort in something, like for earning public trust, peoples' love, etc. or much more convenient "Uždirbti" [uzhdiribti], what means to work in order to get money("dirbti" means "to work"). Lithuanian researchers claim that Lithuanian is one of the oldest languages in the world and they count about 2000 years of it's existence without major changes. That makes it very difficult even for ourselves. One word often has more than ten different forms: "to be getting money" - "uždarbiauti", "to be manufacturing money illegally" - "padirbinėti pinigus". "ė" is a gem of Lithuanian - not many languages has this letter.
  15. Lithuanians use only 'get'. For them, 'to make money' means only printing money for us. And the main paradox of our society is that if person hasa lot of money, it means he has stolen it - one way or another. Probably communism is to be blamed here, then all people were made equal by poverty...
  16. Yes, I am afraid of both Jesus and his followers. Shephers grow the sheep to slaughter them one day and I don't want to be slaughtered.
  17. A great deal on Moral is on Rush's song, "Lock and Key":
  18. If aliens would invade, they would do it quietly and noone of us would suspect things like their invasion happening, right? This all story is like that giant cosmic cloud coming to earth to destroy it in 2014 - WITHOUT ANY INFO IN ENGLISH
  19. If Lithuania is full of Russian spies, KGB agents and their puppets, why Osetia can't be?
  20. Georgia probably thought that NATO will aid them. Well, they mistaken. If NATO aids Georgia, Russia would probably aid Iran. We don't want it, do we? Georgia would better hand over South Osetia, althought some Osetian's could be Russian puppets pulled in order to spark a war between these two countries. By the way, Lithuania calls herself to be Georgia's friend.
  21. I am afraid Lithuania is going to be next What do you think Russia is about to do next???
  22. The Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa, if that's a movie...
  23. I don't know what's happening to it, but it might be because of all those insulting articles they have. Uncyclopedia has less of those, because creating insulting or stupid material is against their policy.
  24. I formatted my book, so now it's 86 finished pages and I am into finishing it. I am not much of a programmer( I know only Pascal for this moment), but I intendet to refer my topic to programming. i often do that., but that's out of topic already
  25. By imprisoning a minor in a single room, you violate his right to freedom. Minors are living human beings who has life and intelligence, they look almost like adults, so why can't they have rights? Althought sometimes, they have far too many rights. Example: a year ago, two twelve year old boys killed eleven year old. Nobody even talked about it in public too much, not to tell about imprisoning them, while they violated someone's right to live. It is stupid then minors can't be judged for major crimes, is it?
