Alas, I found nothing. Maybe if you contacted the ARI, they might let you know how to either get into contact with Thomas Bowden or otherwise let you know how you can get your hands on the speech. It was truly a great lecture in my opinion and I have never heard anything like it on the subject. I think Mr. Bowden did excellent research for his piece as he constantly delivers facts; I'd be interested however in knowing his sources, as most writings on the subject are warped.

A couple of months ago, there was an audio on the ARI website entitled Columbus Day Without Guilt, and I believe it was Thomas Bowden, and he clearly explained the Trail of Tears with a refreshing approach. I was going to post the link, but I can't find it anywhere on the site anymore....

Well, what do you know. I was just plotting to touch those novels I've left behind for the past 3 years, plotting how to get back in touch with all the knowledge that's been sitting on my shelves, that I should be re-reading. Thanks for the post, it really made me realize how much work there is yet to be done and gave me inspiration to begin. (Being a fan of Excel, I love the spreadsheet idea...) ThankS!

Not only is this a ridiculous law, but how does one enforce it? Does it specify how much underwear can be shown? Like maybe 1 inch of underwear above the waistline? It's pretty much whatever an officer deems offensive. To whom?

Thank you to those who replied. I am studying fashion design, and therefore, will probably be looking for a position either in retail, or more probably, within a textile manufacturing company, or a smaller apparel designing store. It has always been my opinion that for a position in the fabrication of clothing or textiles, it is far more important to have (I want to say 'concrete skills) skills in production, say, than teamwork skills. Yet, as things go along, more and more teamwork is necessary or enforced. I suppose that my refusal to focus on my teamwork skills was possibly (probably) fueled by my irrational (not always, but often) condemnation of teamwork in the workplace. Or to put it another way, I think that because I don't enjoy working in teams, I have projected this too far. I don't want to overgeneralize, but the rising mandatory teamwork in school really gets to me sometimes. Therefore, I think that I will definitely have to focus more on the individual positions I will be applying to, and decide whether or not teamwork is of importance to that position. Any other advice is also welcomed!

Hi! I would like to know how other people on this forum deal with my following problem. I was reviewing my resume with a friend, and after looking over it, they immediately told me that I didn't focus enough on my 'teamwork skills', 'customer service skills', and every other skill involving dealing with other individuals. I insisted that these were not 'skills' that I think are necessary to focus on, and that since my resume is a representation of me, I don't think that these skills fit the bill. Not that I cannot deal with other human beings in a working environment, but that I don't like the idea of these skills being focused on, rather than my physical and intellectual skills that would contribute to the position I would be applying for. My friend, who I consider an Objectivist, agreed with me, but said that I must adapt to the changing demands of employers, and to what human resources are looking for in, well, human resources. That left me confused. Do I succomb to what the employers are asking, or do I keep my resume the way I like it, focusing on the skills that I value most in myself. Keeping note of course, that my resume can only be so long, and the need to economize and focus on select things is very important. Am I missing something??? I am stubborn....

I saw it recently, Napoleon Dynamite, and I haven't laughed that much in a while. I don't think it's a great story, let alone a great movie, but it was great entertainment.

"Advertising had to create the demand for deodorant until know it is considered a necessity for any civilized American to have it. But not every nation in the world sees deodorant as the necessity American's do." PIEW!!! Anyhow, advertising was simply the means of communicating this great new product to Americans. Last time I checked, word of mouth doesn't work so well if you want people to buy your product across an entire country, especially one as big as the United States of America. In your opinion, what would good advertising consist of? Just the product and it's name? No emotions, no slogans (that would be preasure), no colors (certain colors are connected to certain emotions), no people in the ad to connect to (that would be peer pressure) and so forth. I think advertising, the best advertising, is a way for a firm to say, "Hey! Pay attention! We've got this great product that you've never heard of before and this is what it's all about!"
