  1. The sad part is that that statement is totally accurate. We can dress it up all we want, but the point is that American just elected a socialist supermajority to rule the country of freedom and hard work. Any sane American businessman is going to move his business to China if he can, where capitalism pretty much the norm right now. Because, for now, America is royally screwed.
  2. Well, things have to get worse before they can get better. Americans wanted a 4 year experiment with socialism, and now they're going to get it. When the economy collapses, maybe they'll turn back to the capitalism and elect a true capitalist president. Right now is the opportunity for the Republican Party to go back to its principles of 100 years ago -- minus the protectionism -- and try to run on capitalism. I think that after 4 years of socialism, "capitalism" will be the new "change" slogan. Maybe Obama's victory signals the height of tyranny in America -- and hearkens a true revolution to bring power back to the productive instead of the looters. Maybe. It's just a maybe. Can't live without hope, though..
  3. I live in Illinois, which is probably going to go 90 percent Obama, so I knew my vote wouldn't mean anything, so I voted with my heart and went for Bob Barr because he was the closest thing to sane out there. If I lived in a swing state though, I would have gone for McCain -- anyone is better than Chairman Obama.
  4. You can't argue with religious people, period. I went to an Opus Dei middle school, I know it very well. They aren't rational people because they don't view the world rationally. You're just wasting your time trying to compel her with rational arguments. But, probably the biggest contradiction -- at least to me -- is that Jesus refers to God as the source of love and other such nonsense and yet Jesus also makes it very clear, especially in his speech about Gehenna, that if you live for yourself and not for God you'll burn forever in eternal torment. Now, I'm eighteen and don't have much experience with love, but it seems to me that you don't cook somebody you love. Just an observation. By the way, I'm a new member. My name's Kevin and I've only been an Objectivist for about a year, so pardon me for any incredibly stupid lapses in reason. They don't teach you this "reason" stuff in school, I'm still getting used to thinking. Look forward to participating and learning.
