Like most of us, I remember exactly where I was on 9/11. Living in Florida at the time, I was busy at work when someone came in into the office from the break room with the news. The rest of the day was spent watching in horror as the day's events unfolded. Shortly before that tragic day, a wonderful artist named Bryan Larsen, completed a painting that featured a dashing young architect taking pride in his greatest masterpiece. In "A New Height" the World Trade Center is featured prominently in the painting. The original oil on linen was purchased very quickly, after which Bryan Larsen made a limited number of signed and numbered prints on canvas available. In an effort to make this image available to almost anyone, Bryan even offered a poster of the painting. It was obvious that people would need and want something positive to remember these beautiful buildings and those who lost their lives in the attack. A limited number of these prints are still available. On September 14, 2001, my husband Quent, wrote a profound letter to our friends, family and associates. The letter is posted on our web site just below the image of the painting. Each year, I read with pride the words that my husband so eloquently wrote. Thank you Bryan and Quent for giving us all something wonderfully positive to share with each other. My goal is to circulate both the image and the letter around the world this week. The world needs more Rational Art and we aim to provide it. Feel free to blog, Tweet, e-mail or Facebook the link. We appreciate your assistance in getting this image to anyone who will benefit from seeing it.
  2. Be bugged no more. That quote by Mr. Denys describing his beautiful painting has been on our web site for at least 8 years along with the rest of the description of "October Eve." Indeed there is some "Atlas Shrugged" influence there, as well as in much of the art that we represent, but the painting and the quote are all his.
  3. All of the covers that were painted by Nick Gaetano are available via Quent Cordair Fine Art. There is a built in discount for orders of three or more and we happily offer an interest-free lay away plan. Bryan Larsen was chosen a few years ago to paint the new covers. The publisher changed their minds at the last minute, but Bryan still created some wonderful "Atlas Shrugged" inspired paintings from the sketches that he submitted. They are available as a set or as individual prints.
  4. We are very honored and excited to have Michael Wilkinson join our QCFA family. It has been fun to see several threads already in the works since our official update has not gone out yet. Thanks everyone for your continued support!
  5. Sorry for the delayed reply; I never saw your post. Thank you for being a fan of our gallery and for sharing it with others.
  6. Thanks Grant, New web guy error. (sigh) For now, please click on the Wilkinson images to go to Michael's art. I will get this corrected asap. The New Art page is a great way to keep up with all of our recent arrivals. With rare exception, all of the available art is posted on the gallery's web site. Please feel free to contact me if you are seeking anything specific that you can not locate on the site. Best, Linda
  7. We look forward to earning your business. Please let us know if our interest-free financing would appeal to you. Cheers, Linda
  8. It will be a pleasure to have you visit our gallery. In the mean time, the good news it that we ship all over the world. So if you can't bear to wait until your visit, just let me know and I'll make sure that you enjoy a rewarding art purchase experience.
  9. This week brought many treasures to our new gallery including a 10 foot Self-Made Man. What a wonderful site. I am blogging about it here. Enjoy!
  10. Hi it's nice to see a new thread about the gallery; thanks every one. Our new home in Napa is quite spectacular but nowhere near as "bare" as Steve would make it sound. We currently have at least 8 Eichingers and no fewer than 10 original Larsens hanging. I think Steve is just trying to keep them all to himself. More of each are on the way, not to mention a special surprise announcement very soon. We have 36 of the canvas prints individually sleeved and displayed in a rack just outside my office. I'm guessing that Steve would like me to have them all framed and hanging, but then that would take away from the wall space for the original paintings. All totaled, we have over 300 pieces on display. Our 3600 square foot gallery is almost twice the space that we had in Burlingame and we would love to have you come visit. If you need any assistance with accommodations, feel free to ask me for recommendations. Napa is beautiful. It's crush season right now, so it will be harder and pricier to get rooms until sometime in November. But the weather is lovely; not a drop of rain in sight. Monday a gallery fan is arriving all the way from Calgary to enjoy our new digs. Come one, come all. We love our fans!
  11. It's official, we have opened the doors to the new Napa gallery. I am posting pics and gallery info on a new blog at www.cordair.blogspot.com Enjoy!
  12. It's official: we're relocating the gallery to downtown Napa. The new retail space is twice the size of our Burlingame store, about 3600 square feet. Yes, this makes twice in three years that we've doubled in size, with thanks to all of our hardworking artists and loyal patrons who have helped make this relocation and expansion possible. Our current expectation is that we'll be able to open the doors by mid-June. We'll host a gala grand opening sometime thereafter. Pictures of the remodeling and build-out are coming soon. We're very excited to be relocating to the heart of the Wine Country (sixty miles north of Burlingame; only 45 minutes north of San Francisco), where we'll have the opportunity to introduce our collection to discerning visitors from the world over. The central downtown location is within blocks of dozens of historic bed-and-breakfast inns, as well as new boutique hotels, a Westin property under construction and a new Ritz Carlton soon to break ground. Also in the neighborhood are many wine tasting rooms, great restaurants, the newly remodeled Opera House, a new river walk and COPIA, "The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts." To visit our Burlingame gallery during the transition, please call ahead for hours or to schedule an appointment, which we will be happy to accommodate, as our hours of operation will be sporadic over the interim. HOW CAN YOU HELP? We're having to buy a lot of lumber, drywall, concrete float, paint, additional track lighting, etc., plus the labor and expertise to put it all in the right places, the right way. Any art purchases you can make over the next few weeks will greatly assist with our construction budget, which in turn supports our artists by making it possible for us to display and sell more of their wonderful paintings and sculpture.
  13. We are proud to represent Mr. Tracy. His available and previously sold paintings can be seen here.
  14. Steve, We are very glad that you could be there with us on such a special night. It was a pleasure to meet you. Per Steve's request here is the link to the Vanna portrait. http://www.cordair.com/larsen/ Cheers, Linda
  15. Some of the performances are getting very full. I highly recommend getting your tickets in advance. www.monna-vanna.com Here is the link to the podcasts. http://see-monna-vanna.blogspot.com/ The Ayn Rand book store has a supply of the book.
  16. Hi Steve, Thank you for attending the opening night performance of "Monna Vanna." I hope that you enjoyed the performance and that you made it home safely.
  17. Hi Steve, Quent attended a lecture by Leonard Peikoff about 15 years ago. The lecture was titled "Eight Great Plays." That was Quent's introduction to "Monna Vanna." Ever since then he has wanted to see it performed live. When we were putting together the QCFA Arts Cruise and considering content, "Monna Vanna" was considered as a possibility. Quent contacted Joel to see if he would be interested in directing the play. Lucky for us, he was intertested. After careful consideration, we decided that if someone was going to bring this masterpiece back to the stage, it might as well be us. So there you have it, a dream realized, starting tomorrow.
  18. We are happy to see so many people getting excited about the performance. Opening night is only 5 days away! If you know anyone in the LA area that would enjoy seeing this gem, please let them know about it. With all of our resources it is still impossible to reach everyone with the news. I don't want anyone saying, "I would have loved to have been there, but I did not know about it." Thanks for any assistance you can provide in getting the word out. Quent and I will be there for opening night, again on Dec 2 and for Dec 15 and 16. We are very honored to be bringing this masterfully written play back to the stage. Many thanks to Joel, Lizbeth, Jeanette, Judith and the entire cast for being so great to work with and for helping make our dream a reality. See you in LA!
  19. Thanks for going to all that trouble to see the play. It will be a wonderful evening! Spread the word, we want as many people to know about the play as possible, especially since it is such a limited engagement.
  20. Quent and I will definitely be there for opening night, so if you make it we'll see you there. I'm sure that is going to be a busy night, be sure to get your tickets soon!
  21. I found several references online referencing censorship in England that included mentions on Monna Vanna. I love Google! Good luck with your travel plans. I hope that you get to enjoy the play.
  22. My apologies; I incorrectly posted the ARI benefit date as Dec. 2, 2008. It should read Dec. 2, 2007.
  23. Recording this production is a whole different project. It has of course been discussed, but for a number of reasons no decisions have been made yet. We'll definitely keep everyone posted if this happens. Are you still on the east coast? PA? Just for grins, I check round trip airfare from PIT to LAX and believe it or not, fares start at $174. That plus a car and the $25 ticket and maybe a night's hotel, you would not have to rob the retirement fund. You could see this magnificent play for about $300-$350.
  24. Our new blog featuring more information about the play, including interviews with the actors and the director as well as pod casts is now available online at www.see-monna-vanna.blogspot.com. Enjoy!
  25. Greetings everyone! I am very pleased to announce our production of Monna Vanna which will be running in Los Angeles Nov, 29-Dec. 16, 2007 and on our QCFA Arts Cruise departing from Galveston on January 6, 2008. Quent and I are the proud executive producers of what we believe to be the first live performances of Maurice Maeterlinck's masterfully written play in over 100 years. The play is being directed by Joel Marquez. There is a new web site dedicated to the LA performances that features more information about the play, actors' bios and the ability to purchase tickets for only $25. Of special interest is that we (Quent Cordair Fine Art) will be donating all of the ticket proceeds from the Dec. 2, 2008 matinée performance to the Ayn Rand Institute. The Stella Adler theater is a 99 seat theater. Space is limited, so you may want to secure your tickets for this very special performance soon.
