  1. Also known as the "Wussy Medal." Red Eye did a segment on it a couple of days ago. Too bad for France that these medals weren't around back when they surrendered to Nazi Germany. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faaZ2do71FE
  2. Here's a few video teasers you might show them.
  3. I like how Tony Stark's father is a tall, gaunt and coldly rational industrialist named Howard Stark, and that he
  4. Now this, ladies and gentlemen, would be the perfect Dagny Taggart look if Angelina Jolie were to play the role. Stana Katic would likely be a great fit, as well.
  5. I recommend listening to with Peter Schiff. He talks about the economy, and his views on foreign policy. It's abundantly clear that he's no Ron Paul, as he supports pre-emptive nuclear strikes against Iran ("If they don't let our inspectors in there, let's just blow the place up").
  6. A new television network called "RightNetwork", founded by the capitalist actor Kelsey Grammer, is scheduled to go live this summer. The network is owned by http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb88qt1XTsI, co-founder of the Ayn Rand Institute. The Tea Party media entrepreneur Andrew Breitbart of BigGovernment.com will be the largest contributor. The network will obviously be closely affiliated with the grassroots Tea Party Movement. It will, among other things, feature a reality series about Tea Party candidates running for office. Visit the RightNetwork website to get a preview.
  7. The Schiff campaign has released a very interesting new ad called "Who is Peter Schiff?"
  8. The Tea Party movement has released it's statement of principles, called "The Contract from America". I was initially very skeptical about it, but turned out positively surprised. There is in fact not a single reference to religion in this contract, nor is there any advocacy of socially conservative policies. The contract is 100 % focused on individual liberty, limited government, and economic freedom. A very positive development if you ask me. Read the contract here I'd be very interested in reading a thorough Objectivist analysis of the contract.
  9. I found it particularly amusing when he bowed deeply to the Mayor of Tampa, Florida. It was back in February this year. I wonder what the man in the middle was thinking.
  10. Here's Lou Dobbs' heated interview with Yaron Brook on free trade, the national deficit, the financial crisis and Alan Greenspan. I particularly enjoy listening to Brook when he's on the offensive. Listen
  11. I'd just like to point out that I'm more or less in the same boat, as a Norwegian student. After much deliberation I have decided to complete my Master of Technology here in Norway, then seek employment at an international IT consulting firm such as Accenture or Capgemini. After working a couple of years in Norway, I'll be free to transfer to an office in the country of my choice. This would likely be in Miami or Houston, in the US. The way things are going in the US I may end up moving to Switzerland, Singapore or Hong Kong instead, though. I hope it doesn't come to that.
  12. Spartacus is made by the people behind Xena, Hercules and Legend of the Seeker. I think it would have been great if they'd created Legend of the Seeker as an adult series like this, with more hardcore sex and violence. It would have stayed more true to the books, that way. I don't think there's much to like about Spartacus from an Objectivist standpoint. Almost all the characters are thoroughly corrupt, and the plots are very shallow. The main character was an atheist, but dedicated himself to the gods in a recent episode. Most of the people who watch this show, probably do so because of the slave girl scenes. I like the character "Doctore" though — a strong and disciplined iron man.
  13. I strongly recommend the books A Bull in China: Investing Profitably in the World's Greatest Market and Adventure Capitalist: The Ultimate Road Trip, by my favorite investor Jim Rogers.
  14. I enjoyed the blooper where she said something like "Alaska is the last best hope of humanity."
  15. From here on out, whenever I read the name "Wesley Mouch," I'll be thinking about this face. If I had to put a single face to the evil which we're all up against, this would be it. Such a damn goblin.
  16. Saxo Bank is perhaps the most successful online investment bank of Denmark. Their corporate statement, which describes "The Seven Saxo Bank Values", is particularly interesting. http://www.saxobank.com/en/about-us/saxo-b...ank-values.aspx According to Wikipedia, it was first established as the Midas Investment Bank, and it has distributed over 10 000 copies of Atlas Shrugged to its employees and customers. I love coming across Objectivism in unexpected places.
  17. Hello everyone, I'm a Norwegian student of Objectivism. This summer I'm moving to Australia to study for the degree "Master of Business Information Systems Professional" at Monash University, near Melbourne. I'm a future business analyst, and intend to be active in the Australian chapter of the International Institute for Business Analysis (IIBA). If you're an Australian from the Melbourne area, or a business analyst, I'd love to have some words with you. - ENikolai
  18. I found this very amusing. The material is written by Russ Roberts, a free market economist from Stanford University. In Fear the Boom and Bust, John Maynard Keynes and F. A. Hayek, two of the great economists of the 20th century, come back to life to attend an economics conference on the economic crisis. Before the conference begins, and at the insistence of Lord Keynes, they go out for a night on the town and sing about why there's a "boom and bust" cycle in modern economies and good reason to fear it. Watch it here
  19. No matter what intellectual message board you visit, you will find a strong majority of INTJ and INTP types. Those are the personality types that are drawn the most towards online intellectual debate. I'm confident there's a larger amount of Objectivist ENTJ and ENTP types than what this thread reflects.
