  1. You call that weak 2D skills? Wonder how your 3D drawings look like then... Great job!
  2. I don't know whether to laugh or cry... It seems that the idiots of the UN are at it again: UN document would give 'Mother Earth' same rights as humans
  3. I hope it's ok If I don't know the albums... (Some of them are bit religious... but I like songs for thier poetic and musical value.) I don't really know the genres... 4. Sorry that I didn't reply sooner... I didn't have much to say becouse it all makes logical sense but I just have some automatic emotional response. @nanite1018 Thanks for sharing that! And I wish you luck with your efforts @Element Hm... I don't think we have the same problem here. @softwareNerd That makes perfect sense... I guess I just have to beat into my head somehow. @bluecherry Yeah, pure might not be the best word. I meant something along the lines of: not to be touched as that would somehow degrade her... Well that doesn't really make any sense does it?
  5. I shiver at every thought of a girl I like in just a slightly sexual context. It's as if she's somehow too "pure" for anything but a pedestal with protective glass (not literaly ofcourse). It's doesn't have anything to do with religion as I was always an atheist raised in an atheist family. What I think it might stem from is that everyone seems to be portraying it as mindless fun and that's just seems to be too animalistic/hedonistic for a person I admire and value so much. I haven't really run in to any problems holding such a view but I can see how it might be a problem later on. So I would really appreciate if you could dismantle this psychological bomb so to speak... Thank you!
  6. Estimated response: Haha, you stupid objectivist tool! You're all a bunch of cultists! Did you know Ayn Rand liked a serial killer and recived money from the goverment?
  7. Thanks for the link! And yes I'm expecting OPAR in a month or so... already ordered it on amazon.
  8. Hm... I should have seen that Thank you very much the quick answer! Not being able to respond to these kind of claims kind of reminds me of when I was so unsure about capitalism that every seemingly intelegent critique of it swayed me. Well I'll be aiming to improve on philosophy now. On a side note: Is this section of the forum meant for such simple questions or is it better not to clutter it?
  9. Someone on a philosophy forum posted this as a critique of objective reality... or rather out ability to perceive it. And to be honest I can't think of a response. Could someone clarify this? P.S.: I think there should be a thread where people can post simple questions about objectivism so we don't feel strange cluttering the forum with this kind of things
  10. I very much like the style. Very poetic! My favorite parts: Is this a beginning of a story?
  11. I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer then till 15th of april then. Ah, well
  12. They're makeing a BioShock 3 now... And again they will try to appeal to the cool kids with their "moral grayness" and denouncing any radical ideology. And yet they'll be branded mavericks by large hordes of people imagining they themselfs are mavericks ignoring the well... other people in the horde. Needed to get this out of my sistem ...all better now
  13. Hm... is anyone here from Europe or better yet from Slovenia? Becouse I'm wondering (and doubting) that I'll ever get to see it here Well if anyone's from around here any info would be great!
  14. Another "insightful" and to me hilarious video... Should I not be amused by this nonsense?
  15. Calling it "free" will just causes confusion... see the second definition. In regard to the second question, thanks for the link. I won't be this lazy next time
  16. I have come across two major definitions "free will": 1.Free will is the ability to choose between atleast two options within the bounds of reality. 2.Will isn't free aslong as it has to abide by the rules of reality. For example: Your will is only free once you can decide to walk trough a rock on your path... as long as you are somehow restricted you aren't free to choose. In my opinion the word free is meaningless since there is no non-free will. And adding free infront of it only couses confusion. What do you think? Is there such a thing as non-free will? I also have another confusion about the free will problem. If the world is made of atoms and you can calculate for example how far a rock will fly if you are given enough information isn't it the same with the human mind that is therefore automatic rendering "free" will impossible?
  17. If this topic is not serious enough for this forum feel free to delete it. It's purpose is to simply post links of people making bad arguments much like this one:
  18. Hm... did I accuse him of any of the above? I found more of those kind of remarks in he's video. Well I respond to these people for fun... and it doesn't take me that long. ;P And I don't really think I'm being unfair to him. He did after all throw random insults around even in the video which was the start of the conversation. He called me a "pathetic little boy" and I merely pointed out that he was acting like one.
  19. @Hotu Matua Well ofcourse it isn't the right definition... they never have the right ones. So I sometimes just use the word as they would. Is it wrong that a todler wants to keep his toys for himself? I mean if he doesn't want to share it whit other kids there really isn't anything wrong with that is there? Would it be better if he were to give away his toys (most parents would be proud of that unfortunately). When the people on these forums (again I don't mean this forum) say that a child is mature when he stops thinking of "only" himself I bet they don't mean it like you defined it. They think it's ok (normal) if he considers others (even that they blow out of proportion)but in their minds it's great if he's completely selfless. Yes again I use their definition... that is really just benevolence. Caring about others that are important to you is caring about yourself anyway (as I think you also said). Now with the bolded part I have a bit of an issue. Why do you think that is a sign of maturiry? Is then someone who has noone around worth caring about immature if he doesn't care about them? (Sorry for the poor structure and probably grammar of this post.)
