Help Me Choose Names For My Son.
Patrick N. replied to Godless Capitalist's topic in Miscellaneous Topics
Although my wife and I don’t have any children yet, we have already discussed names for our future children. We can’t think of any *perfect* names for a son, either. -

What exactly do you mean by "spew the Kantian ideology back at them?" -
I Am Greatly Appalled By Tributes To Arafat

Because hatred of the good for being good has a corollary: love of the evil for being evil. This is the true nature of what we must fight. -
Disgusting. I had hoped that 9/11 would be a wake-up call. To my dismay, most of the nation's "intellectuals" either never woke up, or are consciously trying to destroy us. They worry about things like the number of stalls in women's restrooms, while making excuses for acts terrorism and brutality. Very scary stuff.

Excellent artwork as usual! Just wait until I move to California and start a career. I WILL buy paintings from you!

Wow, Michelle Malkin is very attractive! (Sorry, this is a bit off-topic)

Are feminists actually promoting toleration of Islam? This is horrific.

I just had a thought. Perhaps the deepest root cause of evasion is fear of death. Maybe people evade facts in an attempt to escape the reality of death? Do they refuse to acknowledge the axioms of Existence and Identity, either implicitly or explicitly, in an attempt to escape the fact that man is man, and man by his very nature must eventually die? Consider if one accepts that Existence exists, things are what they are, and reality is absolute, one must also accept and acknowledge the harshest realities. By pretending that certain facts don’t exist, subconsciously one may be attempting escape or “put off” certain upsetting facts—evasion becoming an attempt to escape or ignore that which is unpleasant. And nothing is more unpleasant than contemplating one’s own death. In short, fantasy and dishonestly seem easier to this mentality than facing a reality which is sometimes harsh. Perhaps this is the reason so many people reject rationality with an almost incomprehensible hatred and embrace so many incredibly absurd ideas?

I have no interest in arguing with you anymore about this. -

The question was not meant as sarcasm. I really want to know how much you have studied Objectivism. I suggest you either read or re-read The Virtue of Selfishness, specifically the essay entitled Racism. -

So what? That's a non-sequitur. Try to separate race from ideas. It makes no difference if 100% of Muslims are Arabs or 1%. It is the IDEAS of Islam that we attack, no the racial makeup of those who practice it. It makes no sense to lump race and religion into a "package deal." They are two distinct and unrelated concepts. Do you understand what I'm saying here? -

If you realize that race and religion are different, how could you call condemnation of Islam "racism?" -
Hmmmm... Who voted for the Mongols? Is this a joke?

If any Bush supporters in this forum haven't voted yet, do it now. Don’t let Kerry win.

Bush, Kerry, Binswanger And Peikoff
Patrick N. replied to Brent Rolfe's topic in US Elections 2004/2008/2012/2016
In short, Objectivism is both a body of philosophical thought and a method/tool. Have you read Objectivism: The Philosophy of Ayn Rand by Leonard Peikoff? If not I suggest you do so. A close study of this book should clarify your question. -
What happen with Mr. Branden and Objectivism?
Patrick N. replied to want to know's topic in The Critics of Objectivism
Would you mind specifying what is wrong with it? When I read Evidence of the Senses I thought it was pretty consistent with Objectivism, other than the fact it was written in a slightly esoteric style. -
Dr. Bernstein is taking the fight straight to the enemy. I love it!

This "joke" is nothing more than an evasive attempt to use corrupt philosophy to confuse the issue and intellectually intimidate. Kerry contradicts himself, this is a fact. The "joke" smears anyone who identifies this fact. This is not funny; it is an insult to anyone who has respect for facts and for reality.

Ari Needs To Raise $52,000
Patrick N. replied to AndrewSternberg's topic in Activism for Reason, Rights, Reality
I think the Democratic Party would be VERY hard to infiltrate. The left is based on nihilism and subjectivism and this will make it difficult to get a foothold. I see them as almost a lost cause. Still, it wouldn't hurt to try.
