  1. There is an argument from self defense. A portion of these funds go toward the NK army and weapons development.
  2. Cool, she is a noted scholar and academic, you should have an interesting time.
  3. Reading the Buddhism thread reminds me of a question asked to Derrida about what love is. This thread seems to be saying that in Buddhism no pure Self exists apart from thoughts, sensations and what not. Derrida seems to apply this view to human relationships. You can see him explain here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj1BuNmhjAY Rand's love was highly critical and judgmental, I wonder how an Objectivist would interpret Derrida's statements about love?

Anyone interested in Ostrom's argument and evidence she has gathered in support of her position can find it here - http://nobelprize.org/mediaplayer/index.php?id=1223 A lot of what she is saying comes down to the old Greek ideal that "Small is Beautiful". I think Aristotle would have a heart attack if he knew we have democracies with citizens in the tens and hundreds of millions, her lecture points to a lot of what I think he would say.
