IchorFigure
This guy created an invention called "the Prometheus Device" that shoots fire from his palm. Honestly what more needs to be said? Edit: He has a picasa album full of designs and details about how he made it. Note the big sketched out words "SOLVED YEAH". http://picasaweb.google.com/Everett.Bradford/Prometheus# Edited November 6, 2009 by IchorFigure

Thales
I guess you have to know the characters. P.S. The second one ('This look like money, mf-er? Money be green!' is definitely funny on its own.) Yeah, I guess it is, if you realize it's counterfeit money. What I got from it was a very hard-edged, negative sense of life. When someone says that one finger is for your ass and another is for your eye, it projects a mind set that has no appeal to me. I really question how much respect for life such people have. Give me the clean-cut, benevolent universe premise attitude as exemplified in 1950s America over this modern attitude, which looks to me like nihilism. Once we lose that sense of life, we may never get it back. Edited November 19, 2009 by Thales

CWEarl
Naomi Klein has taken opportunities to glibly misrepresent the opinions of a dead man who can not defend himself. This video uses clips of Milton Friedman that expose her misrepresentations and outright lies, creating a debate on his behalf. Edit: The latest comments (there are over 4000 in total) are a great source of amusement as well. Edited December 7, 2009 by CWEarl

Be warned, there's some salty language in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eliACwBkBw "You must pray to a turtle!" Btw, there is a very good analysis of the "banana" argument that Cameron, et.al., uses. You know, the idea that the banana is the perfectly packaged food, complete with an easy open wrapper, and all supplied by god. Well, it turns out that the banana in the form we all know was engineered, or selected, by man, which puts a bit of a damper on their point. John McVey
Why does Australia have such internal borders? Or is that part of the joke? (They do play this pretty straight on the video.) It's a joke (and an advert for Toyota's off-road range), done in classic Aussie deadpan. There are some quarantine checks, but nothing anywhere near the scale shown in that ad. I haven't seen them personally, though, but when I did a train trip from SA to Vic and back in 2001 I don't recall seeing quarantine officers at either end or mid-journey. JJM About in the same vein as Paul Hogan (in a Subaru Outback ad) asking what a bungee jumper's rope is for. Guess it wasn't hard core enough of a sport without the impact. intellectualammo
This robot is named Roxxxy and there is a male one too, called Rocky, and they just came out at an Expo show. This one appears to combine personality and motors with a doll. So this is one step closer, they are called True Companions, and they well, if you watch this, they say that can be used sexually, as well. They are the world's first sex robots and for between 7k and 9k, Roxxy is 120lbs and 5'7": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6WhnOthges...player_embedded And here is an article about her on PCWorld: http://www.pcworld.com/article/186576/true..._landscape.html
