Gabo
Hello, Some of you may remember the videos I've been posting in the last few months--- slideshows showcasing the meaning of "protest" songs written from an Objectivist perspective. Now these videos are going to become a full album, and it will be available exclusively through Youtube. You can watch the first three tracks, "The world ends today", "Tables and whims" and "A dictator's lament" at http://www.youtube/user/Gabobjectivist or at my profile at www.myspace.com/gabo67 The videos for the remaining three tracks will be available soon. The name of the album is, simply enough, Think! Hope you enjoy it! Edited April 10, 2008 by Gabo
Gabo
The fourth video from Think! is now available at www.youtube.com/user/Gabobjectivist and www.myspace.com/gabo67 The song is called "The Ecologist" and deals with environmentalism and the anti-industrial mentality. Here are the lyrics: I've got a message for the world Which I'm going to transmit Through these means which I didn't create but which have to cease to exist I've got a message for the world It simply occurred to me During the idle time that I enjoy thanks to what has to cease to exist Let's return to the good times When man can be alone with nature With its wonders, its mosquitoes and its alligators Let's return to the good times When man be alone with nature So that I stop singing songs and blocking roads with the vilest of intentions
volco
I get it gabo, but I prefer the "uncharted forest" to the urban jungle WE (specifically us both) live in.
Gabo
If Argentina does turn into a dictatorship after all, I guess the forest would be better. But only under those extreme circumstances.
volco
well yeah i guess that's true. ANyways I like your song particularly the two first paragraphs, there's a subconscious undertitle to "the ecologist": self-hatred
Gabo
there's a subconscious undertitle to "the ecologist": self-hatred Indeed. It is generally self-hatred that leads you towards passionate and irrational hatred towards the rest.
Gabo
The fifth video from the album is now available at www.youtube.com/Gabobjectivist The song is called "Initializers", and the video uses stunning material from fellow board members matus976 and volco. Here are the lyrics for the song: INITIALIZERS We're the first ones to whom freedom is only a few more steps away We're used to its everrreaching hand just a thing of everyday And though we should always remember, we can easily forget we can lose what we've been born to if we don't recognise that it needs a clear defence The progress we've been making isn't ready yet That doesn't mean it's failing, it's just a proof of its success for those who understand that things don't change from day to day It's a process that needs effort, willingness and work We're not in the final stages of something We're just initializing We're the ones who know the effect without knowing the cause leaving it defenseless, losing by default But the light of reason shines even in the most darkened stages We're not doomed to the Dark Ages, we can turn the tide again While you're the final stage of a failed something, WE ARE THE INITIALIZERS
volco
Very, very good Gabo! I love the lyrics, they are indeed very inspiring. The song's a booster!
Gabo
Video 6, "Tribute to the monkey" is now up. The song is instrumental and the video is about the current crisis in Argentina, result of a corrupt government and the evil myth of income redistribution. www.youtube.com/user/Gabobjectivist
Gabo
Video 7, "Anatomy of Compromise" is here! Thanks! It does sound a bit Kraftwerkian. Probably that song is my favourite of the bunch.

The album will be available as a free mp3 download sometime soon, after I finish remixing some tracks. I'll let you all know.
