IchorFigure Posted May 21, 2008 Report Share Posted May 21, 2008 Hello, this may be asking for a great deal more than I intend, but I'm trying to look up specific laws that regulate and hold back new oil production. Specifically, laws that existed prior to the rise of environmentalism, but any are good. I am not sure what the easiest way to find this type of info would be. Nowadays EPA regulations (which have the force of law, but are not enacted like laws) have a more concrete, direct effect on oil production, but the fundamentals of all industrial regulation started with the New Deal. Legally, it all begins on 12 April 1937, the day the Commerce Clause exploded. See National Labor Review Board v. Jones & Laughlin Steel Corp., 301. U.S. 1 (1937). EPA regs can be searched at the EPA's website: http://www.epa.gov/lawsregs/search/index.html.
