If they were attracted by the low taxes and personal freedom then they would already have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo. Sadly, this is rarely the case. There are a huge amount of people fleeing MA, CA, or Mexico because socialist policies are making them un-inhabitable. However these refugees rarely understand why things got so bad in their old states. So, like a plague of political locusts, they vote for similar ideas in their new homes. It's starting to look more and more like Atlas out here. It might be time to shrug in the not too distant future, and we're going to need some kind of refuge. If it all does come crashing down, we'll be better able to protect ourselves and rebuild if there's a group of us together. I don't want to come off as a nut; I don't have a bomb shelter in my backyard (hell, I don't even own a gun), but is it just me or does it look like the storm clouds are gathering? Storm clouds are here, they've gone past just 'gathering'. They're here, they're just waiting to send the rain crashing down and flooding us. I'm waiting, every day, for the world to collapse. It's at such a perilous state, it would only take a small thing to send it over the edge. I've actually explored (in my novel) how a small collectivist state in the Balkans could lead to world statism and stagnation.
