DragonMaci
Well, it is an improvement at least.
Tenure
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1215817144...emEditorialPage The light at the end of the tunnel I guess. The light at the end of the tunnel? An improvement? They were allowed to build at the behest, at the sanction of the almighty mob. They met the terms of their masters and were allowed to go ahead. Reminds me of a case with Lisa VanDamme, when she talks in a lecture about a Town Council member or some such, who was initially against granting planning permission to the VanDamme academy, which had already gone through a lengthy procedure of talks and negotiations to get the permission to ask permission. Eventually this Council member or whomever was convinced or decided that the Academy was a good thing, and there were no barriers to go through the whole process was quick and easy. The matter is still disgusting in itself, that such a system is corrupted by the whims of the individuals under it - and the same goes for this oil-drilling incident. Of course but it is an improvement over not being allowed at all.

It just shows that people are becoming more open to offshore drilling, which is a good thing.
softwareNerd
It might indicate that certain environmentalists realize -- with gas over $4 a gallon -- they cannot get away with "zero tolerance". To avoid being painted as "extremists" they need to say that they are okay with reasonable drilling. That way, they get to define reasonable. Or they came to their senses as average consumers and don't want to pay $4 a gallon anymore. Some of the more sane ones are coming around I suppose.
