Ordr
What a profoundly offensive and condescending statement.
Capitalism Forever
Senator Biden seems to confuse loving America with loving useless bureaucrats who leech off taxpayers' money. The two are very different things indeed. Edited September 18, 2008 by Capitalism Forever Grammar
gags
Joe almost sounds like he thinks paying taxes is voluntary. Ah, if only that were true.....
Thales
To be a real patriot of America means to support freedom and oppose taxation.
Steve D'Ippolito
It would almost be worth it to see a reform where the taxes are still obligatory--but the taxpayer gets to choose which government program(s) they go to. It would amount to a huge referendum on what people think the government ought to be doing. (I'd ship mine over to several places in the Department of Defense, personally.) I wonder how much pork and special interest crap would disappear. Does anyone imagine the gasohol subsidies would be funded at today's level if people had to semi-volunteer for it? I would anticipate a lot of thoroughly awful TV ads during tax season. (Of course the government usually does a good job obfuscating where the money is going. One dodge is to show the majority of expenditures as going to "government payroll" without being able to tell what jobs the government employees are performing. Only costs for supplies, materiel, travel, etc., end up allocated to the program.)
Colonel Rebel
if it wasn't for the link posted, I would swear that is something McCain would have said. Apparently he didn't get to pay taxes as a POW, and every person should be thankful they have the right could assuredly conclude that statement if he did. gags
Apparently old Charley Rangel isn't feeling terribly patriotic: Rep. Charles Rangel will not step down as chairman of a powerful tax-writing committee as he undergoes an ethics investigation by fellow lawmakers, his lawyer said Tuesday. The New York Democrat has faced increasing questions about his future, as Republicans urge his removal from the House Ways and Means Committee over his personal finances, including unreported income on a vacation home in the Dominican Republic that has led to his owing an estimated $5,000 in back taxes. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5ic3pl2Q...yaSclgD937VPKO0
Miles White
Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. Poor Thomas Jefferson would be rolling in his grave.
D'kian
Ah, yes. As every school boy learns, a group of early aptriots threw tea into Boston harbor because the taxes on tea were to low.
ers
Joe almost sounds like he thinks paying taxes is voluntary. Ah, if only that were true..... Harry Reid thinks taxes are voluntary. Search Youtube for a video of him making this ridiculous claim as the guy questioning him just stares in awe at his stupidity.
gags
I've seen the clip. If there were ever a time when I wanted to jump through the computer monitor and strangle a politician with my bare hands, watching that video would be it.
