Mammon
LazsloWalrus posted this on his Facebook, first. So, credit goes to him for the find. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/10/...6/63/856/642915 However, the comments on the page are more disturbing. KendallJ
That's "favorably mentioned"? Is the irony of that not lost on you?
Greebo
The suggestion that Rand was favorable to Political Conservatives posited by the author of that blog is laughable. The blogger is engaging in some very selective filtering to support his claim.
LaszloWalrus
That's "favorably mentioned"? Is the irony of that not lost on you? I don't see how it isn't favorable, given the context. The leftist obviously disagrees with Rand (and probably doesn't understand her ideas on anything other than the most superficial level, if at all). His treatment of her ideas though, is not dismissive, and the application of the ideas is pretty good vis-a-vis analysis of the Republicans, though not of course, vis-a-vis, analysis of Obama. KendallJ
His treatment of her ideas though, is not dismissive, It's not dismissive; it's a rabidly self-serving hijack of her statements. He latches onto the Rand's key idea that ideas matter, while explicitly ignoring Rand's complete opposition to the ideas he supposes to matter. He says basically, "Listen to Rand! Ideas matter! Which ideas? [in a whisper] Don't listen to Rand!" The comments lay open the contradictions. Anyone who knows what Rand actually advocated dismisses her. Which on a site like that is EVERYBODY. If "favorability" means the thin veneer of acceptance, then I can say that certianly is not fravorable to me. gags
I suppose this just shows that you can take snippets of almost anyone's work out of context and make them look as if they support whatever view you happen to be pushing at the time.
