Jake_Ellison
He might as well be standing in front of a sign that says "Don't mind us, we don't know anything. Keep going to church." because of that "probably". I'd love to ask them for an estimate on that probability and the method by which they came up with it. From TFA: An interesting element of the bus slogan is the word “probably,” which would seem to be more suited to an Agnostic Bus Campaign than to an atheist one. Mr. Dawkins, for one, argued that the word should not be there at all. But the element of doubt was necessary to meet British advertising guidelines, said Tim Bleakley, managing director for sales and marketing at CBS Outdoor in London, which handles advertising for the bus system. The Wrath
I live in downtown DC, and I'm pretty sure I saw the Christian's answer to this bus campaign on one of our city buses. I don't even remember what it said, but I remember thinking at the time that it had to be a response to the atheist bus campaign.
Thomas M. Miovas Jr.
I think it's rather silly, especially with the probably in there. Dr. Peikoff mentioned it in one of his recent podcasts and I agree with him that it shows the reigning skepticism of our age. And that is true even if they had to put it in there by law. What are they going to advertise next: There probably is no Santa Clause, so you might as well be bad little boys and girls There probably is no black hole about to swallow up the Earth, so you might as well have your barbecue outside There is probably not any gremlins in your house, so you might as well get a good nights rest There probably is no devil, so you might as well forget selling your soul to him so you can sleep with Britney Spears I mean, really.... K-Mac
I mean, really.... I disagree. Although I hate the "probably" part and, more especially, the fact that it's there by law, a lot of people don't realize it's okay to not believe. They are pressured by friends, relatives, communities, etc. Perhaps those signs will help an insecure person realize it's okay to feel the way they do and they'll be motivated to learn more. I certainly don't think it hurts anything. At the very least, it annoys the religious.
LiberTodd
How much do you guys think a bus campaign costs? Would the ARI ever put something like that out? Maybe an "A is A" bus? Bus is Bus?

Zip
Let me second that. Rand has a lot of one liner's worthy of quoting in her work that would/could resonate with the average Joe. Any one of them could work.

Any one of them could work. Funny you should say that. Immediately after reading that I clicked the main forum link and this bus-ready quote came up: "The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master.--Ayn Rand"
LiberTodd
I've just heard that the Christians responded with their own bus message - "There Definitely is a God." So, as it was mentioned earlier, the Atheists really ought not to have put that "probably" in there .

Steve D'Ippolito
Victor Stenger has suggested the next phase in the ad campaign should be "Science flies you to the moon, Religion flies you into buildings." http://richarddawkins.net/article,3567,Sci...,Victor-Stenger (A link about the counter-campaign by the Xians: http://richarddawkins.net/article,3581,Ant...on,Times-Online )
