Oni
Hello everybody, Foremost, I wish to excuse myself for the future mistakes which you will find; English is not my native language, but I work it. Indeed, I'm 21. I'm student living in France. I read this forum for a long time, and I am thus registered there in order to know more and to discuss objectivism. I study economy and Law, unfortunately in France, the Austrian school of economy is not taught much (but that does not prevent me from knowing the subject a little). I'm not very strong to present me, therefore if you have questions, don't hesitate! Edited March 22, 2009 by Oni

Steve D'Ippolito
Welcome! English is not my native language, but I work it. Indeed, I'm 21. I'm student living in France. If you don't mind my asking, are you a non-French student studying in France, or did you grow up in France?
athena glaukopis
Salut Oni, bienvenu! JMeganSnow
Sorry Athena, but part of the standing forum rules is that ALL POSTS MUST BE IN ENGLISH. It's okay if you're not a native English-speaker and your posts are stilted or awkward, but if the mods and admins can't read it, it's not allowed. I think you're doing a good job Oni (and from what I understand, English is easier to read than to speak/write), but if your English skills worry you, you may want to put "Not a Native English Speaker" in your signature so you won't have to explain. If you need help figuring out how to do that, let me know.
Oni
If you don't mind my asking, are you a non-French student studying in France, or did you grow up in France? I grew up in France and I'm still there. ... I read Ayn Rand in the two languages. I didn't have the choice for Atlas Shrugged because the book was not translated, and it's pity… But apparently, a translation is laid down. It's funny to see the vision of France throughout the world - that you have isn't false. but if your English skills worry you, you may want to put "Not a Native English Speaker" in your signature so you won't have to explain. Done! Thanks! Edited March 23, 2009 by Oni
JMeganSnow
Thanks, Oni! From what I understand, the main problem with learning English is the dozens of little articles and prepositions that don't exist in many other languages (or if they do, they may be interchangeable). In English, it makes a big difference!

Steve D'Ippolito
Howdy (that's Texan for hello) and welcome to the forum! Weren't we just warned about foreign languages here? Speaking of little articles, etc., I can often spot "Russlish" a mile away because they seem to have trouble with "a", "an" and "the", not having corresponding words in their language. I'll see them missing, and I'll see "a"/"an" used where "the" should have been or vice versa.

I can read Russian, Spanish, and French, so while I'm active here, I think they are OK.
