Capitalism: A Love Story by Michael Moore

A couple of days ago on Howard Stern, Michael Moore went on a few minutes rant about how Christianity opposes Capitalism and about how he talked with several mainstream Catholic priests, all professing capitalism as inherently sinful. Couldn't agree more with you, Mike.

I saw him on the Colbert Report last night. It rolled a clip from his movie and all I have to say is.. "Wow".

I can sum up the whole movie:

Panning Shots of a Big City (perhaps New York)

Interviews with anti-capitalists and poor people

Rich businessmen refusing to sit down and talk (who would want to talk with him?)

Filler and a closing speech.

Honestly he couldnt even make a good attempt to bash capitalism.. "The rich leach of the poor" Wow I havn't heard that a Million times from EVERYBODY who disagrees with Capitalism, it's their favorite 6 words.

Good Try Michael Moore, the market is too strong. Maybe Include a copy of "The Communist Mannifesto" with the DVD.

Here's an article from the Detroit News on Moore. Just like everything I read about him, it's full of ridiculous statements and contradictions. I'll post the whole thing because I think you have to be a subscriber to access their articles.

Before I read what you've pasted, I should ask: are you permitted to copy-paste their whole article somewhere else? Perhaps there's something they want to gain by requiring subscription to read their articles?

That was my mistake, the article is available publicly through this link:

Michael Moore's movie finally came out, and I finally saw it. I thought it would be two hours of agony, but it was actually pretty laughable. I tallied every factual error and epistemological fallacy I found (so as to actually get something intellectual out of it), and came up with well over 100. Did anyone else see it?

I believe I saw somewhere that this movie was doing positively dismally at the BO. Can anyone confirm this?

According to Box Office Mojo, it has taken in just under 10.2 million Dollars US as of Oct. 15th. That's not bad for a documentary, but it falls far short of his greatest hits. Sicko took in under $25 million in theaters, short of the over $100 million of Farenheit 9/11 (if Mickey Moore ever has an original thought, I hope he'll let us know)

Just saw this one... well, sort of. Michael Moore makes me sick. I felt like taking a shower to wash my soul so I just quickly scanned through large parts of this crap. The message was pretty simple though: Michael Moore hates america, rich people and just feeds on the misery of poor people(whose misfortune is blamed on capitalism, of course).

Big surprise, eh? :D

I know a liberal "anarchist" who said that he liked this movie. From what I heard from him, Michael Moore talks about how the bailout "could've been handled better".

Yes, it could've been handled better: By not happening in the first place!

Here's the problem I have with liberals: they condemn trickle-down-economics, but they support bailouts! Michael Moore, who hates corporations and rich people (Okay, I don't seriously believe that, but let's keep assuming), wants them BAILED OUT! Socialism for rich men, huh? Of course, Michael Moore doesn't really hate rich people, because he is one. He embodies everything he hates: a successful person who continues to feed off of his own success. Only difference is, he succeeds in the same way Immanuel Kant does: telling everyone that they need to hate themselves for becoming too successful.

Michael Moore should make a new documentary, called

"How I capitalized off of anti-capitalism"

I don't see any reason to direct rage at Moore. He really isn't worth considering in any manner, whatsoever.

Attacks on the man's appearance have no bearing on the discussion his philosophy. Comments like this remind of a time I heard Ayn Rand described as, "that haggard, shriveled [REDACTED]". I'm sure most here would agree that her appearance has had no impact on your understanding of Objectivism, or your willingness to accept that A is A.

I find Rand attractive.

All you need to do is look at Michael Moore and you know exactly what sort of person he is. His grotesque, corpulent physique, slovenly hygiene, squashed, bulbous face, and beady eyes are a direct reflection of his soul.

LOL
